Adam's 172 Turbo Build

In the wishbones? Nope the standard front wishbone bushes have virtually no play as standard, even my standard 95k set are very good and the ones I’ve just painted haven’t covered many miles at all.
The rears I will polybush as these are not as good.

Got asked what I wanted for Christmas today .. obviously I wanted car parts
🙈 Managed to get the following.

PFR7Z-TG 5768 Plugs, these are the plugs normally used in the R26 megane.

Apexi air filter, used one of these on a previous car, very good filter where space is limited so perfect for the Clio.

More presents arrived today.

Catch can, really impressed with this, looks very well made and the dipstick is a nice touch.

Gloves, after doing a few track sessions I struggled a bit with sweaty hands on the warmer days, was quite hard to find a short pair, most came up my arms which I didn’t like.

Managed to get a couple of bits done.

There were some scratches and grinding marks on the heat shield so I tidied it up a bit.

After giving my old engine cover away I decided I’d like one to tidy the bay up 🙈🙈

Bought a new one, rubbed it down and primed it ready to be painted red.

Base coat applied, just waiting for decals to come then I’ll flat it back and lacquer it.

I have run into a slight problem tho, apparently you can’t run a cover with the PMS strut brace? I’ll have to modify things a bit and make it fit.

Got quite a few more bits now, cambelt kit, water pump, Walbro 255l fuel pump and the rest of intercooler pipework, hopefully going to mock the cooler up in next few weeks.

Would of had most the bits for conversion but instead I treated myself to a new lid and HANS device 🙈

Looks like this will end up a decent spec car once complete, is 270 brake gonna be good o the standard box, also where you ordering your boost bits from?

Box has been rebuilt and has a quaife, came out of my mates 350hp Clio so will be fine.

I’ve been ordering all my parts from various different places, whoever is cheapest at the time really.

I’ve also been thinking of selling my megane pistons/rods and injectors and going forged although I’m not really sure it’s worth the extra cost as 270hp in a clio is pretty rapid.

Bought this aswell. Proper CDS tube, built to FIA Annex J Spec, comes with the 3mm reinforcement plates to.

Ahhh fair enough mate. Just saw the safety gear and assumed you were doing a series.
Good to see a track dayer buying a hans device!

Got a pair of matching seats now, pair of OMP subframes and a matching steering wheel. Also ordered a pair of blue 6 point TRS harnesses to break the red up a bit.

Bit the bullet and ordered some forged rods this week with ARP 2000 bolts. They were delivered today so I measured them on the paint mixing scales, there all within 0.5 of a gram so super impressed.

I now need to decide on weather to chuck them in with the 225 pistons and injectors and run 280hp or fully forge it with 630cc injectors and run 300+

Made a start on the cage, modified the mounting feet so they fitted nice, marked out where the cage fitted then drilled and welded nuts on the back before I welded the mounts in place, was a bit scary as the petrol tank runs right behind back of the mounts both sides but a bit of tinfoil between prevented any disasters.

After they were welded they were filled with wax oil to prevent corrosion, the underside of the car where I had welded was ground back, primed and resealed.

The harness bar at the back is to low for my HANS device so I’ve bought some CDS tube to weld 2 selerate harness bars between the cross frame.

Sounds good Olle. I’m sorting garage out so I can make a start on turbo conversion at the mo, you’ll have to pop over once I start.

Few more parts turned up.

Engine dynamics 5 puck clutch.
Full silicon coolant hose set and stainless clips.
Engine dynamics triple layer head gasket and various other engine gaskets.
Poly rear beam bushes.
Mount for the HKS SSQV turned up so got that mounted and ready to go on.
New tyre pressure gauge and infa red thermometer.
Heat shielding.. went a bit overboard with this 🙈

And last but not least a TRS tow rope .. being optimistic as always :tongueclosed:

After chucking my dashboard in the skip I decided I’d quite like a flocked one so picked this up earlier. I’ll have to fabricate something to hold it up as I chucked the support in the skip to

New steering wheel quick release, previously had a ebay special but after deciding I didn’t fancy dying very much I bought a decent one, much thinner then the cheaper ones to

Interesting, is that second hand or new, only I haven't seen them before and can't find them online either?

It’s used but not had much use, think it’s an American brand

Have you checked the rods for ovality on the main bearings? If not, get them checked.

Not yet mate, I’ll prob take the whole lot to engineering shop to be ground/checked once my engine is out and stripped, was just getting impatient other night so had a play about.

Removed the cage to make a start on the harness bars, don’t have a tube notcher so had to do it by hand, tacked them in place so I can check there in the right place before the final welds.
