(another) MX-5!

  This one ^ (someday)
Picked this up yesterday and drove it the 350 miles home from South shields to Brighton.

Completely in love with it, great to drive and surprisingly good on motorways.
There's a few little things to sort out but so far it appears to have been a good buy!

It's a 2.0 Sport with the option pack (leather heated seats). 42k on the clock and full Mazda service history.
Getting the wheels properly aligned asap.

Thanks,

Tim

Tasty!

Get it to wheels-in-motion for their spring kit and geo. Will make it so much better to drive!

I've heard of Wheels In Motion, where are they based?
I know the geo is £114 but how much is the spring kit?

I use WIM for the Geo on my Clio, great bunch and they really know their stuff (especially MX5).

They are a fair distance from you though up in Chesham.

Ps: Car looks lovely

See, on their website it advertises other garages that offer their services, but i can't help thinking the other garages would be up to the standard of the WIM place itself.

I may actually ask Rentech in Portsmouth if they can do it, I know they specialise in french cars but i know they're good honest guys and great mechanics and after all wheels are wheels right?!

Hi, Tim welcome to the mk3 club ;)

Don't do the Gaz option if you need any pointers some of us are three years down that road :D

  123D Coupe + MK1 MX5
Used to not like MX5's at all, thought MK1's were the only decent ones.

Since owning my Mk1 I find every MK3 absolutely gorgeous, yours looks spot on sir!

I must say it's a great little car, just pokey enough to be fun. For anyone who hasn't driven one they're a touch less frantic/fast than a 182 but more fun due to how small and low they are. It also did 42mpg on the 350mile run back from South Shields which i'm very impressed with.

The gearbox is my favourite bit of the whole car, every gear change just adds to the fun.

I'm looking to do a track day in the new car soon but really have no idea where to start.

Where's a good track, preferably in the south, and what exactly am i after?

Thanks

Pretty sure you can do beginner track days. Probably best to get some one on one tuition too, especially as its your new car and you don't want to go binning it on your first lap!
I'm doing a drift day at Oulton Park for my first track day. Should be interesting considering I've never been out on track before and I'm not overly confident at going sideways... LOL.
Can't offer any advice on where to go as I'm from the pikey end of the country :)

I do quite a bit of karting which i'm hopeful will help me out a bit, the only problem i see with tuition is it's awfully expensive so i wouldn't mind avoiding that if possible.

I like the sound of a beginner track day, i'll have a look for them!

Full track days are around £155. The drift day I'm doing is £119. So probably in between those figures I'd imagine. Taster sessions are around £25 for 20 minutes too.

£150 is about what i'd expected so that's good.
How much actual track time would i expect to do in a full day?

Re drains I use one of those plastic coated curtain springs.

I use a small funnel & watering can to flush mine out every few months.

Put a bowl underneath, supprising what rubbish flushes out.
