I decided that the car was going to be used for Superlap Scotland to compete, the old cage wasn't pleasing my eyes and decided that a full cage would be the best bet. It also helps if i decide to enter any other motorsport series, hill climbs etc etc
out with the old cage, in with a new sassa cage from tim finch. Additional cross welded into the roof. this was a terrbile idea and made fitting the cage a nightmare. Old seats and harnesses were removed and sold.
A new corbeau revolution ordered up and sabelt 6-point harness
Polycarbs ordered.
aerocatches for the bonnet
Wing mirrors and roof scoop painted and fitted
removed some more tar and cut out the doors to help with weight saving
headlights cut out, wiring chopped out
genuine cup racer hubs with wishbones were also purchased
as a result i had to lengthen the driveshafts to account for the extra width. a bit of a pain but nothing drastic
a gripper diff was put in with a lightened flywheel
the abs was removed and a cup master cylinder put in with cup brake lines / bias valve
calipers rebuilt. new discs and pads, new fluid and we are good for a shakedown.
the car also has solid engine mounts, rarb and a pms shifter which i forgot to mention earlier.
the car lasted me well pretty much all season with only an alternator giving me hassle until the last round.
the final consisted of many broken driveshafts and a snapped engine mount.
Somehow i managed to bodge the car back together in the final and nurse home a lap in the rain giving me 1st place on the day and 2nd place for the season!
Chuffed with how the first year went considering i only had 2 practice sessions in the car before the start of the year
at the end of the season the car was stripped to help resolve the issues that i had throughout the final.
