Any one had this done at BBPT

  182 Trophy
Hi

Just thinking about taking my 182 to BB for some mods. Im thinking of having one of the performance packages (below) my question has anybody had it done? if so is it worth the money? (£2700) would you recomend it?

(Taken from the BBPT website)

These packages are for those looking to take their sport to the next level of N/A Tuning. This kit consists of:- Billet Inlet and Exhaust Cams, Inlet manifold matching / porting, Cylinder head porting / matching, High compression 12.6:1 forged pistons and ECU relflash to suit.

Simular to package (B) but additionally we add Forged high compression pistons. These raise the compression ratio to 12.6:1 compared with the O.E 11:1. Raising the compression contributes to a more powerful burn by squeezing air/fuel mixtures further.

We are also able to supply and fit Forged conrods if required during fitment of this package. Priced at £375 + VAT per set (This also includes new big end bearing shells)

The price shown is a fully fitted drive in and drive out package and includes your own Dyno printout on completion.

We expect power of this conversion to deliver around 220 BHP, results will be online on completion.

Cheers

Chris

ha! They're trying to keep up with the likes of us and AWT now eh???

the only thing i wouldn't suggest is running high comp pistons on a road car

They're work is very good, thumbs up from me, but find out what cams you're getting for your money

what is wrong with high comp pistons on a road car then? :)

na, not really, i just wouldn't suggest them if you're doing lots of road miles

we've got them in our demo car, they're great, but not something i would run on a road engine

one of nicks williams he has built runs high comp pistons and the bloke uses it everyday and it drives normal until you wanna use the power,i suppose it depends on the set-up

Running forged pistons on the road is fine, if done correctly.

There are many things to consider from piston material, design, taper/barrel, crown thickness etc. Once you have that sorted you have to control combustion temps correctly to ensure that you can run tolerances that area suitable for road use.

I've yet to see a forged piston available for the renualts that are, imo, good.

all of the packages mapping is done by re-flashing the origional ecu, is that the best way forward for the amount of work potentially being carried out?

  2005 Nissan Navara
its not the best, but its ok.....no worse than a factory ecu being mapped with the same data to suit thousands of engines of the same "type".

this is assuming that each install is EXACTLY the same, and more importantly, that the map data being programmed is of a suitable quality in the first place.
