Arctic Blue 182 FF

As some will know i used to own this Itb'd saxo that i built from standard:

Alot of effort was put into this, winning numerous awards and getting mag featured. Sadly i was starting to think that i wanted a change as i never used the car and certainly not for what it was built for (smashing round a track).

Which leads me onto my new car which i took in px for the Saxo.
I always wanted a clio and this seemed a clean example (previously owned by Chapperz). Slightly high mileage had put me off at first (111k) but it has full history, mostly renault and specialist. And so the deal was done.
How it looked when i got it:

When i got it, it had no parcel shelf but that was easily sorted from ebay, and it had some crudely wired component speakers, a sub and amp in the car. These had to come out asap, and i re wired the car how it should of been with a new headunit.

Then i fitted a skoda splitter as the cup one was missing.
People that know me will be aware of my detailing side and massive OCD. So after a good clean and polish it came up well (very well for the mileage)

And popped my autofinesse bag in

I also removed the 'Renault F1' sticker from the bonnet for a cleaner look.
Also fitted an Arctic lock cover for the passenger door.

The front tyres were very worn (didnt see that when i bought it), and i have a big hatred for prada spec 2's so i changed the fronts to AD08R's, same as i had on the saxo, epic tyres in my opinion.

The car had a stupid loud custom exhaust on it when i got it, gave you a headache easily and fell off twice. Utter poop, now after a 5 week wait from Ktec i now have one of their cat back unsilenced pipes on (great sound and not loud at all which is surprising)

That brings us up to now.
Plans are;

Keep it clean
ds2500
Retrimmed Wheel
wheel spacers and maybe a different colour
Remap
standard airbox with ktec filter
Rear ARB
Dogbone engine mount

And not alot else rather than use it and get out on track.

Applied some Gtechnic trim restorer today, should last a ling time. Did the whole car but here is a 50/50 of the grille;

Looks good mate, i need some trim restorer that works.

ha, ill take a pic asap. The trim stuff is awesome. Ill do a review of it soon so i can judge how well it holds up over a week or two of daily use.

What are the tyres like on the road?

Tyres are awesome on the road. These being a softer compound mean they will wear quicker but for now i love them. Had then on the saxo too.

Still looking forward to seeing this in the flesh before I make any comments. Good plans for the future and I'll look in my shed to see if I still have a 182 air box.

Thanks Pete, wont be long now. Will be great if you did have a standard airbox :D

My first experience of them was on this car, following Fletcher down the motorway and aquaplaning even doing 50. Hate them, rears will be changed asap too.

Not alot has happened lately.
The car is still my daily hack, 119k now and still going strong, starting to turn me around of my fear of high mileage cars.

Done a few bits rcently;

Sorted my eml light out as it turned out to be a lamda sensor.
Fitted 16mm rear spacers and pms stud kit (rear only currently)
Standard filter with ktec panel filter
Evol engineering dogbone (was stupid hard to start with but after 1k miles it settles right down)
Changed the gearbox oil (easiest job ive ever done), and combined with the dogbone mount the gearchange is top now.

I dont want to do much more to the car now as i think its a nice alrounded road car now.

I have a set of Focal speakers to upgrade the fronts as they are knackered.
I may map it if i cam get an rs tuner cheap. And maybe plasti dip a few bits in carbon after hearing good things about petes civic.

No pics for now but will get some asap.

which spacers did you use on the back? I want to do mine after its lowered but not sure which ones are best to get.

Look who it is! Good to hear from you buddy, im toying with theidea of getting somthing else but i cant justify it with a wedding to pay for.
Like isaid i wont do much to it now really. The mileage always concerned me but its got stacks of history and pad alot of stuff changed already.

I also came from a saxo/106 background and these are like a better version that you can live with everyday.

Interesting you say the ktec system isnt that loud. That said yours is a 182 so has a different exhaust from the phase 2 172's. Im looking to purchase the ktec system but insure on whether to get the centre silenced one or not.

I say it all depends if you want to run a cat or not.
With a cat these systems are not that loud with a un silenced centre. Without they are quite loud, it changes alot imo.

Really good quality bits of kit tho

I took a closer look on the ktec website and its saying they are 85db @4500rpm so should be absolutely fine. Plus a £60 penalty for a quieter exhaust is too much inmy mind lol

Car is still going strong, aux belt has started slipping when turning on the spot so will be book in with Rentech when Mike opens in the new year.

Fitted sone focal speakers to replace the shoddy aftermarket ones that were in there.

And got my snow foam on.


As i keep saying i wont be doing alot to the car now, just subtle things inside and out. (Got a wedding to pay for now)
