As I'm new to these 172s I need some help

  Mk1 16v brooklands
Basically I've just come from a fully stripped mk1 2.0 16v hybrid..
I knew my loaded 172 wouldn't compare to it so I'm looking to make it abit quicker in the new year..
Soon to be fitted are my new
It's having a piperx panel filter and a full s/s cat back magnex system..

What else is worth doing I see ktec do the remap and matching ports for quite a good price is that worth doing aswell?

Budget dependant, the JMS inlet will give you quite some more power. It includes a remap and will remove the existing inlets, puts you to around 195bhp too :)

195? That much? How much would that all cost? apologies to hijack the thread slightly....

Prices are in the JMS thread, power will obviously be dependant upon the strength of the engine etc, but most who have had it fitted have seen in the 190 area, and with the ph1 being generally quicker, I'd imagine around the 195.

The cost of the current group buy is just over £1500

Didn't take you long to jump on the ph1 bandwagon ;)

Hey mate im from just down the road, get along to some meets :)

In other news, as above really, the JMS inlet is great if you wanna spend that sorta money, otherwise a decent remap, matched inlets, decat, exhaust.. normal stuff really just defo get the inlets done, my standard lower was awful!!

James, as discussed a couple of weeks ago, inlets and a panel filter are the most cost effective mods, with a remap to compliment.

I'd think long and hard before using a magnex exhaust though. Not great on the 172 at all
