End of 2012 update:

The engine bay hasnt had much atention in a while and its been on my list of things tondo for some time, as the weather wasndry today i decided i would give it a good clean.

I used engine degreaser and a bucket of car shampoo, along with an old toothbrush and some. Lothes. I know the detailers would have a list long of different products and expensive brushes for different areas etc, but for me, if what i have available at hand works, then thats good enough imo.

I wanted to start with the underside of the bonnet, first of all i covered the engine bay with a large black sack i had cut open, then i used my hand held dyson on the sound supressing material, then with the bucket of car shampoo cleaned the actual boonet itself, a few times. I dried, then applied a coat of polish to brighten it up as much as possible.

Next i removed the black sack first ha, the took off the engine cover and gave that a clean, again with a bucket of shampoo and also the degreaser,

I put that aside and started on the bay itself, the coolant bottle, power steering fluid bottle and the brake fluid bottle are allways a mess so i wasnt sure how well they would clean up, the pictures really dont do them justice as they look imaculate now, really impressed.

The rusty clips really let it down now,

Looks a lot better, always one of those jobs that you put off for ages, after seeing this I'll have to get my bay 'detailed'.

Been wanting to do it for a while mate, i have some new air box anodised bolts on order to replace the standard rusty ones. Going to replace a few other bolts in the bay also to tidy it up. Did you break the BG and just have the Trophy now?

Johnny has the trophy now, I've bought another BG with 47k on it :)..shouldn't have really broken the first BG as I had a fault wrongly diagnosed as terminal issue's but it turned out not to be.....after I'd stripped half of the car....I'd spent around £2-300 trying to fix the fault and I'd just had enough in the end

Nice work, spraying the inlet a fresh silver would finish that off nicely. I used BBQ spray paint from B&Q when i done mine.

Has he, does he have plans or just going to keep it clean?
