Aux Belt Gone On 54 Plate?

Hi All,

Just need some advice, think the Aux belt gone on my 54 plate 1.6 16v, now ive read posts saying that it could wrap around cam belt and take that out too. But I cant tell? From what I can see the cambelt is totally enclosed within a metal casing.

Whats your thoughts guys?

Regards
Jazz.

Think its just the F4R Engines that suffers the Aux & Cam belt failure but dont quote me, All i know is my 04 182 shot its Aux belt at 20k and blew my engine up.. Renault Warranty FTW !

Does your car turn over and fire up ?

my belt went on my 1.2 16v and was no damage to the cambelt. pretty sure you are safe but do not take the risk, either get someone out or get it down to a garage

K4 lumps are pretty much the same design just smaller so the possibilty exists the same with the 1.4 and 1.6 16v engines.

Been trying to turn it over a lot? Battery gone flat if so, might be lucky if the aux belts snapped and left the cambelt the battery may just be flat as the engines stayed running and the alternator hasn't been turning to charge the battery. Oil filler off and turn it over to see if the cams turn, if so your in luck make sure you stop it from starting when turning it over with the cap off otherwise it'll get a little messy.

Update guys! The car starts! Just need aux belt replacing now! Wheres best place to get a full kit? Also need a roller too (the one with grooves in to run belt and one is buckled)
