battery terminals too small

Hi

A quick question. Bought a new battery for my other car and the terminals are too small to connect to the battery. I tried bending them apart but now the bolt is too short. Is it ok if i chisel this part, drawn red, a bit smaller for the terminals to fit?

Just buy the correct battery.

You can get a correct decent one from a motor factors thats the correct size

No dont chizel it !!!! if your gonna do it file it your likely to split the battery or snap the post from the plate inside>

But like quoted above get the right battery as making the terminal smaller will increase the resistance of the connection and cause tha battery to fail prematurely.
