Been offered a 400bhp 200sx...

Had a few txts from a lad ive met once before who has a 200sx he can no longer afford to run. He's a mate of a mate and wants to straight swap it for the Bora. Normally i would have bitten his hand off but im unsure now as i do 60+ miles a day. He says you can get 110 miles to £20 on low boost.

The other problem is that its green. Meeting up in Saturday morning but im not sure what to do..hmm

My 200sx was 307bhp. It would do 50 miles to £10 if driven steady. Give it some stick and it would see 25 miles to £10.
So i very much doubt he will get that kind of mileage.

Also it cost me over £70 to fill the tank so beware of that. Great cars though.

Could you not tone it down at all? im not sure whats been done to hit 400bhp. But i imagen what ever parts could be sold on.

Run it as a weekend car and get a cheap barge for the work commute?

Depends how much you want it/money you have to burn tbh.

The bumper was cut for the front mount but now has the orginal bumper on there.

Spec wise it has all the usuals plus its forged, Brian cower 264 cams, GT3071r and running nistune. Has a RR print out for 404bhp..

Chris tis fugly aint it! Only running standard brakes and KYB's too so needs that sorting. I HATE the green too. Satin black would look better..lol

Do it, and if it turns out to be too much to run, surely you could always sell it on or break it? Must be worth more than the Boring? Sorry, Bora.

  Evo 5 RS
why does everyone think it's hideous? I'd jump on that if he was offering a good price. 400bhp in that would be hairy

These cars are amazing, I saw a white one a while ago that I loved, but hated everyone I've seen since. I hate the looks of that and hate the looks of all the ones on Pistonheads :(

Sounds like you've already made up your mind but felt the need to post. It looks a lot better in the second picture for some reason, but given your mileage I wouldn't go for it, it costs me approx £100 to fill my tank but thankfully I only do around 25 miles a day.

Wow 400bhp,

Are you actually gona use the 400bhp?

I mean are you just going to drive it like a granny changing gear at 2,500 rpm so it doesnt cost you loads to run? Or will you have fun in it and get the back end out and maybe do a lil drifting?

All about how much fun you'd get out of it on your daily commute.

They're only around 140hp standard aren't they?

The bora? Yes 150bhp as standard. Even a basic remap takes the later revision 20vt with a K03s turbo to around a reliable 210bhp. Mine as you can imagen has more and been on the RR hence the 239bhp. Bit of a random figure to pluck out of knowhere..lol

Green and Rotas.

On the other hand, 400bhp, yes please. A lot of the lads around 300-350 say theirs is better on fuel than a standard thanks to the mapping, so maybe it's worth selling the turbo for say a 2871, and getting the nistune tweaked to suit? Also, what gearbox is it on? We know the standard one will be shitting out soon enough ;)

Personally, the rotas are easily changed, the green not so easily changed. Saying that, I'd probably go for it.

Really? Whats it like in the dry?

Need to give my mates abit of a clutch kick in the dry, followed by some s**t and it will hang out all day. Still doesn't just spin up easy enough. He is running Buddy Club P1s with 225 T1Rs, so thats not going to help. But it's still a good laugh. In the wet it's a nightmare.

2nd gear and enough right foot will kick it sideways progressively in the dry if it's leant over for a roundabout, clutch kick will step it right out. That's on 225/17 Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas, better than Toyo's offering in the T1R IMO. If I turn up to 15psi (circa 250bhp) it's even more fun.

remember... stock gearboxes dont like over 350bhp... saying that you could make money breaking it i guess...

The kid in me says yes but bein sensible says no. The fact it's on kyb's and standard doesn't say much for the owner IMO?

I find it hard to believe that an old car will offer the type of mpg he says...Especially with 400bhp.
Mate has a 350bhp escort cossie and gets arounf 20mpg.

But if you want it then do it,its not a massively expensive car...

  Whichever has fuel
400bhp and standard brakes and susp??

Looks like he's got his priorities right!

I'd avoid that like the plague.

if its been mapped right, there is every chance you can get good mpg out of it... friend of mine has mapped his rx7 to do over 30mpg.... bearing in mind the stock out the factory figure is 18 thats pretty good going.

Standard rich mapping on mine can still manage 300 mile to a tank of fuel on the motorway, no worse than my ZR was. With the bonus of spitting flames.

Plus, 1 bar is enough to pull away from a 350Z with nismo pipes and plenum spacer, I love power to weight :)

tbh, stock brakes are 4 pots and excellent, and standard handling is very good. not solid and there's a lot of roll, but they're very well balanced

How much do they come in at Kg wise ????
