Before & after K-tec Induction Kit graphs

Same rollers & dull cold weather on both runs. Only difference between the two was obviously the date, a KTR IDK & a ph1 twin cat fitted:

Engine mods:
519 Matched Inlets
Ph1 Twin Barrel Cat
BTB Exhaust
RSTuner Remap
KTR Induction Kit

Im happy with the result as this RR is known to give more realistic figures and for the above basic breathing mods I think its about right, would of liked 180bhp but 178 is more than enough without spending the value of the car to get around 20/30bhp more.

Cool.

Dip in power at 5k seems to be gone however since you've made 2 changes between the dynos it would be hard to make a conclusion. Imagine it drives a bit different despite the figures being so similar.

Im unfamiliar with that particular set of rollers, is the -3% and -5% correction saying it took 3 and 5 percent off the measured figures, or that it added it on?

Nice to see you lost the little dip that was there before, wonder if that was down to the change in cat or the change in filter, im sure you can notice that being gone when driving :)

Obviously not the sort of huge gains that people were at one point claiming this would do, but it does seem to have made a slightly improvement for a large chunk of the rev range, so its certainly better with with the different car and inlet than it was before if those readings are correct.

Main advantage of those setups is the noise though, they might only gain a couple of lbft but they gain about 20% in acoustic horsepower :)

4bhp and 3lbft, from the combination of the induction kit and cat done together, there isnt a seperate graph for each mod though so no way of knowing which one made how much difference out of that total.
 
The gains look reasonable Dan, and as we know these rollers are accurate on figures. The noise alone is worth it!

The silicone pipework follows the same route as the old K&N Typhoon from the ph1 172 and the filter is an ITG Maxogen

Engine mods:
- Signiture Pikey induction kit
- Milltek exhaust on the dyno (now has the new BTM one)
- Silenced decat

I made my own typhoon kit. But a week later I changed it to the ktec style one, I found it better personally. Although with fogs removed it could be different I suppose.

My induction is special.....because I made it and it's top secret:)

Thats incredible. 10hp gain and 14ftlb gain. I'm interested to see some pics of your induction kit!

I made 173bhp at a RR day with a V6 box, matched inlets, Piper 2.5" exhaust & a Fastchip 98ron map.

So any proven gains from breathing mods is something that always gets my attention.

So you had a 90 degree alloy pipe, a 90 degree silicone joiner and whats after that?. A straight bit of alloy pipe connected to a filter?.
Correct. It was from my Simota airbox. It was a bit of a struggle getting the filter past the headlight adjuster.

You need a straight piece of pipe to. Mine went right underneath the headlight.

seen very definite gains over a v6 box or the very similar ph1 box. Makes more difference to a cammed engine though

How's that work? It's drawing air from the exact same place as the acoustic valve? Lol

Ueah but with a foam filter attached effectively acting like a sponge! Mk1 FRS suffered with this with the typhoons so they fitted them with a water sock (no joke!)

looks like the clio typhoon has a sock also from the pics!
Tbh I have home made Ik with the large itg foam filter and I feel happier with it being squeezed behind the headlight and battery!
Was to scary driving around in the FRS near large areas of standing water! Vroom, boost, slurp....BOOM!

I have to be very careful with standing water n/s now..

Here is a pic from when I mocked it up. It now sits ever so slightly lower and obviously I relocated the horns lower down on a bracket and put the arch liner back in.

I made the kit from 2 70mm 90 degree bends and 1 70mm 45 degree bend with ally joiners inside.

Realistically the setup is flawed massively by the fact that nothing fits. Because I have xenon lights the pipe is perilously close and does require off cut pieces of hose slotted in as you can see in the pics to stop it wearing through the pipe. Not a product that could ever go on sale for anything but the ph1 172 because there just isn't space. Makes good power though:)

It's personal preference but I wouldn't be happy using that. You're asking for trouble without some kind of feedback like the standard box. Water and engines don't mix very well.

People in this thread are just panicking TBH

Splashes of water on the filter arent a problem at all, water is so much heavier than air, and the path out of that filter is upwards to the engine, and the amount of suction at the filter is very low, so that there is no reason for the water to ever actually get as far as the engine, even if its 50% covered or more you are likely to get an issue with any water at all making it to the engine (and a very small amount does no harm anyway), you'd need the filter to be about 80% submerged before it actually sucked any problematic amount of water up.

Poke just a couple of small holes in the side of a straw, then stick the bottom hole in some cocacola and see you get on drinking it, lol

water onto the filter = cooler inlet temps = more power. Think water injection

Just don't drive through any floods
