I arnt fitting the ph1 head anymore as it fvcked! But you will get a small gain as the exhaust ports are bigger than they are in the ph2 head! Fitting a ph1 head and matched inlets should see a small gain but it would be nothing to get excited about! It will just make things flow alot nicer!

I've already got matched inlets and PTFE gaskets. Suppose I could get the exhaust ports enlarged and the turbo exhaust manifold matched up though.
If it's hardly worth doing I won't bother, but if the head ends up coming off for other work there's no reason not to do it.

I wouldnt bother personaly! Youll get better gains from other mods! Save ur money, I was only fitting the head because I had one sat in the garage off of my spare engine

At the moment it's making 217bhp at just slightly under 0.5 bar.
When I've got a better actuator or a boost controller fitted and it's been remapped again, Andy @ K-Tec reckons I'll be getting at least another 60bhp out of it at 1.1 bar.
So realistically it'll be making round about 280 ATF, possibly more with a sports cat / decat, which I will be having fitted next time I go down.

I'd post my RR graph but my scanner got broke by the Mrs while moving house

EDIT: I'm running a low comp bottom end, BTW.

You'll get a max of 280 out of it as you'll run into the same problems as me and Ryan k, where the boost drops off in the higher rev range.

Yep. It's actually already doing that at the moment. The RR graph shows it dropping off (although I can't remember at what RPM). It should drop off a bit higher up the rev range with more boost but it will still drop off nonetheless.
Do you know why it drops out of interest?

Just an update on the car aswell as a cheeky video. My mate has a Focus ST with induction mods, decat and full exhaust system (think its a milltek?) He also has the latest dreamscience map on there, running approx 290bhp, the other night we found a nice straight road and waited till it got late and quiet! You dont see the focus for long lol, so in the video its hardly a race! BTW his reg plate is pretty funny coz hes 6ft 9"!!

god you despatched that focus quite easily, lovely car, how far was he behind when you got to roundabout?

compressor efficiency. There comes a point where the turbo can only flow so much air. you can tune some of it out with electronic boost control, which holds the wastegate shut longer if properly setup. Remember though, boost isn't directly related to power, and it's not even directly comparable between turbos of different sizes, a larger turbo will flow more air at a lower boost pressure. Just because the pressure is dropping off, doesn't ALWAYS mean the power follows the same trend

yeah kind of. Boost is just a measurement of restriction at the end of the day. It tells you how much air the engine can't use. If the boost is dropping but the power isn't it just means that engine is working more efficiently and using what is't being fed. That's actually a pretty good boost curve. Hold on and I'll dig out mine

It was about 8 car lengths IIRC. Thats why I went round the roundabout so slow and exited on half throttle, so he could catch up! lol

As i think it says in the video of it, it was a dreamsceince modifield one with 290 bhp roughly, its further back in the thread.

It was about 8 car lengths IIRC. Thats why I went round the roundabout so slow and exited on half throttle, so he could catch up! lol

Got the car back today
JC5-130 Trophy gearbox fitted with the bolt on diff instead of the circlip diff. Modification had to be done to fit the worm drive but nothin the local gearbox specialist and the local engineers cant solve! I also had my original JC5-129 box rebuilt as a spare! :approve:

It was a mate, forget the name of his garage! Good chap though, knows what hes doing! Hes just built a mk4 astra van with a 3.0 v6 in the front driving the front wheels and another in the back driving the rear wheels! Then if that wasnt enough he turbo'd both engines! Lol! Tooo much fun! :rasp:

Today I have smoothed the wiper hole cover (I still have to paint it black btw):

The current exhaust setup consists of Magnex backbox, no centre silencer and decat, and its faaaar too loud now its stripped so after Christmas I am thinking of something similar to the K-tec recessed backbox, I want something thats nice and neat. I am also going to get a silencer placed in the centre section. So thats the next thing on my list!

I have the K-Tec Recessed system with decat and non silenced centre and its horrendously loud around 60-80mph, I'll be getting a silenced centre section when funds allow.

Buy some ear plugs then your gonna need them.

I spoke to K-Tec and its because i'm running a decat that its louder!.

Whats the extra red cable for beside the battery on the earth side?

The earth side has black tape wrapped round it upto about 6 inches. I must admit on the pic it looks like there is 2 red cables and a black one but there is just 2 red cables, 1 has black tape on.

I dont know to be honest? :S I dont want to sacrifice too much! I took the rear doorcards off at first and then put them back on beacuse it just looks a mess with them off! Im looking at removing the carpets, taking the sound deadening out then putting the carpets back in. Also looking into some lighter front seats?

Its not the same as saving its the same as spending... as he spent it. On a clio which he'll never get his money back on.

ktec systems are weird... when i was running mine with a cat it was barely audible but then i decatted it..... OMG you couldnt stand within a mile of my car sooo loud, baisically the boxes were hollow :S, so i ditched and orbisoud in now in place

Got the car in the garage today, put the OEM springs back on! Apex's are terrible! The ride is just :dead:!! Ive suffered about 9 months with them now and just got fed up! Currently looking for some coilies!!
