not talking about performance, just sound, k&n, green, k-techs, hill powers, piper x. want a nice roar from under the hood. used to have a k&n on my valver and it did sound really nice. didnt really notice anydrop in performance either.

Hillpower IK is supposed to sound pretty sweet.... its a sort of half-open induction kit, and has a nice roar to it apparently......

for sound alone the k&n is the best.

the k&n is around 100 quid so for an extra 60 you may as well get a bmc cda.

the cda sounds the same as the k&n bus not quite as loud as it is enclosed.

i have had both, and would say the bmc over the k&n for the money if you are buying new.

big dave have u got the full kit including the blue pipe that leads to the engine and how much are u looking for it?

Ive got 2 IKs for sale, ones for a MK1 172 and ones for a MK2 or Cup.The Mk1 one has been on car for 2 months and the MK2 one was on car fr a week.Im only seeling the filter and heatshield, not the Silicone intake pipe as im keeping this as i only have one of these.Dont really know how much im looking for it,make me an offer.

If you reply to this please do so in my ad in"for sale"cheers.

Take the pipe out on the right hand side of the airbox and just aim it at the aperture leaving a gap.

Nice quality roar (not over the top) shielded from engine heat by the airbox itself!!

I ran it like that for 20K (with panel filter) with no problems whatsoever. And if I may be so bold, I would say it increased higher end torque too. :D

right ive ordered a itg replacement filter and im going to take the pipe out of the airbox like cupboy said above and see what is sounds like, i dont expect any power gains from the itg but its a compromise for the time being until cash allows maybe a properly developed maxogen kit. i will post when fitted (arrives tuesday)
