Bloody Billabong Seats *pic*

  Chocolate Bar™

just taken a few pics of the billabong interior in my car, as im now sending a letter to renault to complain about them.

the following stains are caused from water, and dont shampoo out (takes numerous attempts to get them to fade) ive got the same problems on my door cards and its an absolute joke.

feel free to laugh at the pic, i know i do every morning

christ thats terrible!! looks dodgy! u sure its water?! ;)
i was expecting some of them

a nice 182 interior would be much nicer :D probably just end up getting £10 off a service though, as a gesture of goodwill...

if anyone else has this problem i can add you to my letter, because then it looks more substantial a problem.

I have the same problem as you mate.

Ive found that Vanish Oxi Action does a reasonable job but in no way are they ever clean.

Cheers

i dont have this porblem at all, it is most probably as i got the optional extra of the sotch gaurding of the seats, after seeing this, i am very pleased i did

hope things get sorted out mate, thats really shocking

^^^^^

Good thinking. Wish the previous owner of mine had done that. One day ill get them clean and then scotch guard them.

I was also an owner of a 2002 Extreme and that interior was a FOOKING nightmare.

Main reason I upped from the dynamique was the slightly sportier lookin interior it just looked the nads in the brochure. But the stains on it were something else. First time I got it stained badly I had a full valet by a company called RJR and it was mint again.

Needless to say, 6months and 3 valets later I got fed up of throwing good money after bad and got down to halfords and bought meself some car seat covers and never took them off after that.

Day I sold it I whipped em off and it looked mint. Fook trying to sell it with stained seats. Door cards were still pretty fooked tho.

what happens is you clean them they get wet and the water sinks down into the foam, then when you sit on them the dirty water seeps back up staining them, i found the best way to clean them was with steam and a vax carpet cleaner to suck the water from the foam... but i dont care now as i have 172 seats

i hate trying to get my seats better. its ridiculous. keep us posted on how you get on with renault

i wanted to get them supaguarded as they sell the kits on ebay for about £15, but i cant get the seats clean enough to supaguard them. will have to try some of the suggestions if i dont get a result from renault

I have the same problems with my 2002 extreme. I have to clean them quite regular.

I find Autoglym upholtery cleaner does the job very well though. Just keep the cloth as dry as possible though when cleaning the seats!

Gaz.

Ive had my billabong since october 03 and the interior is still mint? Can i ask how exactly did the water get onto the seat like that mate?

funny how you should ask that - most of the stains are from having water on my clothes from when its been raining. however those pics were taken after id left the sunroof open for a couple of mins and had to run out to save it. luckily it hadnt rained onto them much, because otherwise the entire seats would be ruined.

think the diamond brite would have actually been worth it on extreme seats looking at that.

My seats obviously get wet now and then, the last time they got really soaked was at xmas last year, so when i got home i got out the car and left the heater on full for about 10/15 mins it dried them out and they still look mint.

sounds like youve been lucky cause no matter what i try they still look terrible. have sent an email to renault last night, and my letter will be sent in a couple of days if i dont get a reply so fingers crossed ill get something sorted

I have spilt a little water on mine a couple of times and it takes forever for the stains to fade out!! It is a pain but I like the seats so I put up with it! Hasnt been bad enough for me to have a properly clean or valet them yet but they do show every little mark!! :(

Jesus, i never got anything that bad but writing to Renault wont make anything happen...who got water on the seats? You!

I got my seats steam cleaned and they looked like new. In fact, my valeter is a legend, he did my engine bay too and the car looked like it came out of the showroom when i sold it.

well if your walking down the street and it rains am i supposed to let myself dry off for an hour before i get in the car?

will nick my dads steamer and have a go with that i think. cant make them any worse

That really is bad, as long as its only water that should cause that sort of problem.

As you said, do they expect you to dry off before you get in!! I hope you get somewhere with Renault. Just cause a big fuss.

Dear Mr Middleton

Thank you for your recent further e-mail.

I have investigated this matter at the highest level here in customer services, however I regret to inform you that Renault are unable to assist you with the repair of your seats.

Fabrics are all checked and tested prior to being chosen for design so it is may have been caused by chemicals on clothing or some other substance. i would suggest that you seek a second opinion from an alternative Renault dealership.

I realise that this is not the answer that you are looking for but i can only apologise that I am unable to assist you further. If you have any other enquiries please feel free to contact us at Renault Customer Services.

Regards

Renault Customer Services
Basically been told just on the phone that there are natural defects in the fabric, and because i have attempted to clean the seats myself i have caused the stains in using non-renault branded cleaning products. they also stated they have never received a complaint of this nature, and as such they cant do anything about it until there is a sufficient basis of complaint. bast@rds!!

This isnt just an isolated incident.

My seats were the same and its the reason Renault pulled the plug on that colour of interior.

I had to pay an extra £400 at the time to upgrade from a dynamique to the Extreme, what a waste!
