had a rear quater repaired in 2009, now noticed theyve painted over a vinyl and the laquer is starting to peel from over it. when i had the quote for the work they said they might have to remove the "sticker" to blend in the panel, but when i got it back they hadnt, but didnt realise why they didnt remove it until today.
do i have a leg to stand on if i take it back to them?

Repair shops I've used in the past were cash in hand with no receipts etc, so if this is the case then very unlikely. Onthe other hand if it's a pro job with warranty youll be ok.

Maybe as a gesture of goodwill they'll do it, worth a go!

All garages should offer warranty mate.

There's a good chance the chip tape has, well taken a stone chip and it's easy for paint to peel once that happens.

If it was done through the insurace then you have an even better chance of getting it sorted.

Painting over decals is this difference between a decent bodyshop and imo a poor one.

got a receipt, also got the original quote (on the back on one of their bisuness cards) sayin id need to replace sticker

its peeling over two places on the vinyl itself, one bits cracked, but the other bit is a bubble

So they charged you for the chip tape and didn't fit it. Nice way to get an extra £12.

Take it back and explain. Show them the other side to compare.

Ah well because they can't buy the sticker they would expect you to supply it.

Very very pikey though. And not acceptable under any circumstaces. They should have removed it and left it for you to fix out.

Obviously it's where stones are going to catch as well.

well thats what they said when i got the quote, but when i got the car back i was well chuffed with it still being on. not anymore!

mates got same problem were the GLANZA sticker on the o/s quarted has been lacquered over..

personally id feel ashamed if i did that. id rather explain to a customer that they need to replace a sticker than just lacquering over it.. thus meaning if you wanted to remove it you would then need it all respraying !
