Boot Build

right.
now i need some help
going to bite the bullet and go for a boot build.
now.
i want to be able to have a 15inch sub, centralised. with maybe 6x9's or components either side.
only problem is. I want a false floor, but still have access to spare wheel if need be. now, it doesnt have to be like. whip out and in jobby, i want to to fit snug and look the nuts. and i dont care if i have to fold seats down and it takes me 15minutes to get the spare wheel out

could anyone do me a rough sketch of how to do it or explain. pitch idea's on how it should look too!

it should look however you want it too look,

however placing speakers in the boot with the sub,
you wont be doing the speakers any good, and the chances are you wont hear them in the boot, they will be entirely for show when the boots open.

one pice of mdf/plywood wat ever your using insert into the boot, cut right down the middle so you have two halfs, left and right, put hinges to connect the two together, and carpet over the top, put the sub on the left side as its the heaviest, and 6x9s on the right as there the lightest, thus making the right hand side easy to lift up on the hinges to get to the spare wheel

I would go with a single unit which would simply push forwards onto the folded rear seat back when access to the spare is required....

If you keep all wiring to the rear you may well be able to do this without disconnecting anything....

First step--Build your main cabinet which will house everything
Second step--Build your sub enclosure
Third step--Build 6x9s or comps into baffle board on each side of the sub

Here's a pic of mine...I could modify mine quite easily to act as I recommend above....

I boxed mine, then sank it into the wheel well, so it was still sealed, then piece of mdf over the top for the false floor, no spare for me

Heres a quick mock up I did on google sketchup which will be my next build (When the sun comes out and I can get cutting outside). Hope its some help.

Oh and if you want to fill all the edges you want to get a bit of hardboard and carpet that (instead of the box) and lay it over the top of the box. As you wont be able to build the box to fit the edges

Also, like has been said, dont put 6x9's in the boot. There is no point. It will most likely echo and sound terrible. Dont put them on the parcel shelf either. If you have a sub in the boot it will shorten the life of the 6x9's. You're better off getter components in the front (And back, if you want the hassle)

well, im starting it tomorrow, will post photos of the progress. wallops build is more down the track i want to be on. except 1 15inch sub and components and 6x9's either side. i know i wont hear them etc but they'll look good. lol

also, what should i finish the boxes in? i want it so people open up the boot and go. oh my god. wow. that looks sick sorta thing!

I just did that as a quick idea, basic measurements would be the height of the boot (To the bit where the tailgate meets the boot, so its a fake floor), width and height of the top part would be dependent on the bootsize. Then the sub box would be dependent on what the sub needs, taking in that it need to be only a certain hieght.

Hope it goes to plan littlec17. Remember to think about where you're going to put the amb(s) before you do it. Oh and chances are you will hear the 6x9's a bit, but like I said they will echo
