Brembo HC disc life expectancy...

Incredible!

I've got a new set of discs sat next to me ready for Rentech Mike to fit tomorrow. I just realised that this is only the 3rd set my car has ever worn.

Standard lasted about 35k IIRC, then on went some Brembo HCs.

I'm on 82k now, and they still have both wear indicators showing on both discs - that's 47k miles, with DS2500s early on, and Pagid Blues recently. I'm getting them replaced as I get a bit of a rumble from them every now and then...suspect slight warping or maybe a crack.

Bearing in mind the abuse my Cup gets, I think 47k miles is quite impressive :D

Going to get some Brembo HCs when my std discs wear out (I'm still trying to finish them off ) lol

would you recommend the high carbons over the max discs? it seems a hell of a lot of extra cash for the max discs just for a few grooves!?

I looked at those and came to the conclusion that it's a waste of money.

Look good but with pad technology these days do those grooves really have any use?

I've still got my original disks on at 53k miles, i'm getting brembo hc on at my 60k miles service with the green stuff pads, 53k miles with original disks that's good:)

My originals lasted 49k, but were knackered (only 20k of that was me) Brembo's just gone on, hopefully wont have to change them!

7mat - brake less ;)

For the price they are they must be good,'damage' is it because of the compound quit abrasive? Tom's taken out a set in 8k  think he's a rally driver on the road all he wants now is rally decor:)

They are my pad of choice, the sparks add a bit of theatre too.

My originals are getting changed at just 22k , not sure on replacements though possibly HC Brembo's

The sparks would be a novelty :)

you DO NOT get any paint damage with PF97, a layer of dirt on the car protects it ;)

we were the first to offer HC discs to the UK clio market back in the day when we first started, damn i'm good

thats what i was thinking

Brake pads used to have a lot of problems with gasses when getting hot but I really do think that decent pads do reduce this problem.

You've also go to think about the area of friction that actually makes your brakes work...the more holes and grooves on a standard size disc the less actual friction area.

I put some EBC grooved and drilled discs on my old Renault and I can honestly say they made the braking worse and that was even with Greenstuff pads.
