LOL at scared...mine makes me feel like that sometimes now, especially when you get a wheelspin/torque steer combination going on at 70mph +.

Let's hope it stays dry for Bedford...I want a ride!!!

Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread

The suspension has been set up. Biggest problem was that the front was too low. They sugested raising it very slightly and lowering the back a bit. Unfortunately the back is already at its lowest setting. Because there is no weight it the back it doesnt sit as low as ideal. So the front had to go up a long way from where i set it.

It looks high now but i still had trouble getting on my mates 4 post ramp, at least i dont have to worry about speed bumps etc.

They sugested that they could sort me some shorter springs on the rear, allowing the whole car to go lower. Tbh im not sure i want to go to that expense for the sake of 10mm or so.

exactly the same as mine mate, and i am yet to strip the rear, they handle so well don't they.........can't wait to get mine stripped now.

were you get your set-up done? ££?

Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread

Got it done at Powerstation in Tewkesbury.

Was iirc £80+vat for setup and £30+vat to adjust ride height. Took them about 1.5 hours all in.

Very knowlegeable guys, they specialise in Subaru's. There were some absolute weapons in their workshop!

What is the video like with the Goprocamera mounted on the number plate?

Have been messing about with mine trying to find the best location, tried using the motorsport suction grip onto the inside passenger window but not too impressed. I also find the audio very quiet?

Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread

ha ha that piccy of schwep never goes away
Pmsl.............

7MAT.
I didnt acctualy start the thing going, kept forgetting  then i wrecked a tyre and ended the day early.

Ive now got a tube strapped accros the cage to have in car footage. Will be trying that on friday. I was planning to get the motorsport kit, its not up to much then?

Battery life has been a problem for me, my bro has fitted a power connector to it now and i power it from a fag lighter socket in the back. I aggree the sound is quiet but if u have it on high all you get is vibrations. I bought it for snowboarding too, its great for that.

loving this thread - excellent work with the brake cooling, especially the re-cycled arch liner deflectors!

Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread

Not really progress more of an update on the car after Bedford.

Love it!

It was awsome, so much quicker than I am currently, need more confidance on the brakes. I dont see the need to do much else to it for now except maybe a new drivers seat as the 'arm chair' I currently have means i move around in it abit. Needs to get finances back under control as i never intended to go this far with it so soon and the credit card is worn out!.

popped into my mates on Monday morning just to have a quick glance undeerneath and make suure no damage was done after my grassy moment at Bedford.

All we found was plenty of this............

Managed to get this out of the car on route to Bedford..

IMAGE_666.jpg

Very pleased with that as before i did the cambelt it wouldnt do more than 33mpg no matter how slow you drove. Id say its fixed!

Got even more on the way back as the fuel light came on and i was 40 miles from home, least I know the gauge and light are working. That was the lowest ive run the thing.

Bedford Video here

And another here

Finaly my fave pic from the night. No idea who took it but its ace.

Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread

Im not getting new, im getting a previously loved set

ah cool what are they?

just had my braided lines turn up to ;)

Braided lines eh? Very nice. I was going to go for them, but didn't see the point for what I was going to be using my car for.

i would suggest fitting braided hoses just for the improved pedal feel bud, definate improvement even in mormal day to day driving

Hmm? That's what thought, but it would be interesting to see at first hand (or should I say, foot) as to what they are like.

Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread

Definitely.

You know what your brakes are doing with consistant pedal feel and position, so you can get more out of them.

Should be first mod to the brakes IMO.

Totally agree, was amazed how changing something so small/simple could make such a difference, even with stock pads and discs.

Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread

I am hopping that the Dot 5.1 will help to stop the brakes from getting cooked. As when the fluid gets warm the pedel starts to feel sponge like.

That's not mentioning heel and toe changes either. You downchange with varying pressure on the brake pedal, and with lines, a good fluid and a fresh bleed, no matter how hard you press you stay lined up for a quick blip.

Re: My Ph1 172 track sl*g Progress Thread

Enuff of the spam, im taking this thread back over!

Went to see a mate from work today who's family are well into rallying. Managed to pick up n old seat off him to replace my 'armchair' drivers seat.

Its not ideal but a BIG improvement over what i currently have. He also had a full on carbon shell blue one i could of had but it was in a very sorry state and would of needed recovering.

IMAGE_697.jpg

Fibreglass so weighs nothing. needs some tlc around the edges tho before i fit it. Hopefully i'l find the time before FCS.

IMAGE_696.jpg

After id decided what seat to have off him I took him out in the car. A few miles from his place we swapped over and he drove on the way back..................

OMG, the car is a weapon in the right hands. Being a rally driver/champion and knowing the lanes well he was very impressive considering he didnt know the car. I actualy enjoyed it more than driving myself, Lol.
