  Clio 172 ph2
No f**king way guys your never going to believe this guy has literally just phoned me this morning saying his mate has took a bleed in the lung and isn’t well and he wouldn’t sell the car without him being there as it was his fav car.

Am fuming man honestly

Yes does sound odd.
Hopefully he hasn’t changed his mind. Looks like he has an “investment barn” full of cars and these people rarely sell anything.

  Clio 172 ph2
The guy has probs had second thoughts I reckon but so gutted man honestly

The car is down in Scarborough mate and yeah the pic I posted of it is the car in the barn mate

  dan's cast offs.
Ignore me, didn't see it was the same car as in the second pic. That was when a guy I know had it.

Turbo 172 it is then lol! Gutted to hear that tho matey, the 5 looks a stunner and can only imagine how much you were looking forward to tomorrow

Yeah mate that’s what I am considering now.

This is been a nitemare so far buying a car man [emoji85]. There is two guys on here selling them the Monaco one looks real nice and Keith on her has a silver one with lsd.

So gutted man just hope he pays me my deposit back which am sure he will if he is a decent guy

Fingers firmly crossed for you with regards to the deposit, hopefully you'll be ok there. Buying a car should be a pleasure!!

I can't comment on the silver one as haven't seen it, but I know how good Ollie's is and how much history the car has. If I didn't have my Arctic 182, it would be in my garage already lol!

  Clio 172 ph2
Well the guy certainly gave me my deposit back so fair lay to him. Yes still gutted but it obv wasn’t for me.

Anyway there is now three boosted Clio on the forum for sale [emoji85]which one do I bloody choose so hard honestly lol.

Why would he not ? He pulled out of the sale...

Changed his mind.
I once sold a Defender we’d had for years and changed my mind after the deposit was left. I thought of all sorts of excuses but in the end felt too bad about it to let the buyer down.
So l let the car go and bought another within 24 hours which luckily was better than the one l’d just sold and was the same price.
If buying a car like this it’s best to try and take it there and then. If you leave a deposit the seller has a weekend to consider his decision and get cold feet.
And there’s always the chance somebody else offered more “how much? I’ll give you £xxx for it tomorrow”
That’s been done to me.
Or he told his mates “l sold the GT Turbo” and they said “don’t sell” or “you are a fool to sell it”

These kind of cars are an investment donkey nowadays anyway. For a daily driver the Clio 182 will wipe the floor with it.

The R5 GT Turbo was really fragile, and spares are a nightmare to get (Clio spares are bad enough)
I’d love to have a go in one but not as a keeper. Rust was a problem even in the day so you’d definitely need to SORN it over the winter.

Sorry accidentally posted twice

Good point tbh. Well av got my eye on the three that’s up for sale on the forum it’s just picking one that a like.

They all have good points
First one the silver 172 turbo has a lsd and coilovers bc’s.

Second one which is ollies looks stunning and well looked after

And the third again looks lovely has a cage also and running 252bhp mapped by chris@efi

All 3 are nice but different, just depends what you want for the car - if you want a stripped out track car or well sorted car you can use for the whole family

Shame about the 5, bit of an odd excuse but at least you're not out of pocket. Are there any blown clios near you you can have a test of? They are very different to a na one.

Yeah still got money for something decent. Nip none about here that I know of which I can have a shot of.

Are they a lot quicker than std form Clio. And reliability wise as long as they are maintained are they usually ok

Just seems a lot of people who boost them sell up not long after. They will be noticeably quicker, but I think it's the difference in power delivery that probability puts people off. Don't think there's any reliability issues other than clioturbo but cars.

What you mean difference in power delivery? In what way?

You actually have torque from 3500rpm instead of having to wring the neck off the stock f4r lol.

Basically is it much faster than your usall mapped 172 etc lol. And on track would you recommend a oil cooler if I were to use it on the odd track day

Yeah that. Have you owned a turbo hot hatch? If not I'd go test drive a few, meg or vxr anything from the last 10 years or so. The way they build speed is nothing like a na 182 so if you like the 182 a blown one may not be as appealing as you imagine.

Yeah had a 270bhp Astra vxr starlet gt turbo fiesta st new shape lol. So a have had boosted cars. Do they build up speed quickly or slowly? Just struggling to understand how u mean by the way it builds boost compares to other boosted cars mate that’s all lol.

Yes, it's much quicker! A mapped Clio, a bodied Clio, even a bodied & cams Clio ain't keeping up.

The torque is the killer.

Oil cooler is needed for track days.

I'd agree with that if it was 2016/7, doesn't seem to happen now that Clioturbo have gone.

I'd agree with that, I nearly bought a turbo when I went for bodies, but decided I didn't like it. Went bodies, did a year with them and then removed them and went boost.

How do u like boost compared to boodies?
As long as it puts a smile on my face and can do the odd track day.

As for the oil cooler much we talking supplied and fitted for that? Roughly

  172 Turbo
Oil cooler is £150 + fitting which is just an oil change with perhaps bumper off to locate it.

Boost is quicker than bodies, but bodies have that drama and hammer sound that can't be replicated.

Is the oil cooler a fairly easy part to fit?. And also where can I buy one from?.

Ah OK, what I meant was if you liked the clio because of the 5k kick, and the build of power at high revs and sharp throttle response it will lose some of those traits once boosted. Yes it will be much faster, but it won't drive the same. If its the handling that you like most about the clio then a boosted one should be the same but faster.

To drive a turbo Clio is different to a normal 182, that's been said above several times, but the way it delivers is smoother and for me personally, it's progressive all the way through not having to wait for 5k plus it doesn't give you that 'nothing nothing nothing WHAM!!' turbo lag of an 80's turbo. But I love that tho haha I've had 3x Series 2 RS Turbos, a series 1 rst AND a 195bhp Fiesta RS Turbo and you can never beat that 80's lag. That said, the power and noise you get from a Clio turbo, just awesome!

Defo not a family car two seats is fine for me lol

Haha that's your answer then! :D

As said above, it changes your power band.

Instead of the VVT 'kick' at 5k RPM on an N/A 1*2, a boosted 1*2 will build torque and power from much lower in the rev range. Depending on a lot of variables of course like who size of the turbo, who mapped it, what purpose it's been made for etc.

If you enjoy the clio for it's high revving engine that needs to be kept above 5k RPM to get it going then boosting it will completely change this characteristic. My advice would be to go and view one of the ones that are for sale and get a test drive. You'll know instantly if it's for you or not.
