Caliper painting issues

  Black Gold with cup packs
Just painted my calipers today with proper caliper paint. Just driven home about 2 hours after doing them. Is this ok because I cannot see them to tell if s**t has gone into the paint work? they are yellow? Or should have I waited longer I drove home very carefully as Idid not want brake dust all over them

why didn't you do them at home, when i did mine by 2 hours the paint had a hardish skin over the top but i reakon if i drove s**t wouldave gone into the paint depends how fast you where going tho.

I live on a hill! And I had my mate give me a hand with It. I drove around 9 miles home! at no more than 40mph no hard braking ect

did you dry them properly with a hot air gun or something? as if you didnt ide bet no way will they have cured properly and the dust will have sunk into the top layer

Yeah you should be all right what was the weather like that way cos where i'm at it's hot as fook and i reakon it wouldave dried pretty sharpish.

Yep it was very warm hopefully it is ok! If not I will give it another coat in the morning If I get up early enough. It says on the tim not to re-coat after 12 hours so as long as I get up at 7ish I should be ok

when i used caliper paint i had to give it around 24 hours to fully cure and harden, i would have thought that the finish wont be as good if you have driven it after 2 hours

So 9 mile drive home not exceeding 40mph and light braking would have cocked it up?
So maybe an extra coat in the morning?
And also why can you not recoat it after 12 hours?

caliper paint is a funny one as it is a paint and hardener mixed together, if it does look a bit dodgy in the morning then your best bet is to slightly cut it up with some sandpaper and buy some hammerite smooth from halfords in the same colour and give it a couple of coats with that :D

I wouldn't worry about it mate i thought i fucked mine but they came good in the end i doubt it's done that much harm if not as you say just give it another coat in the morning, haven't got a clue about the 12hr thing.

It says on the tin not to re-coat it after 12 hours. And you cannot paint over it for 6 weeks?

how hard was it to do overall?

take wheels off, wuick once over with wire brush to get sh*t off and a good generous coat of the paint then just leave to dry?

is it fiddly?

Wire brush then Preperation wipes I used mate. Its easy to do Its just messy if yo get the cliper paint everywhere. It's all over my hands and I have scrubbed them about 10 times.
It will come off eventually though.
