So granted, im in the US. So finding parts is a lot harder. UK sites dont easily show up for me for example. But when im looking for brake pad retaining clips, all I get are ones for the rear or for other generations.
Ive heard of Halfords, but it wont let me search anything without registration which isnt possible for me. Ive been getting by with ebay but theres nothing there for Mk1 front clips.

Oh yea, yet another reason joining this forum is so helpful for me. I guess it’s probably another thing we use as different name over here for some reason. On top of that, my “Clio” is actually jdm, so I've had trouble using the chassis number for anything as well.

I have seen a couple posts of people saying they've removed the shims and it’s perfectly fine. But Ive seen others say removing them is a terrible idea. So idk if I should worry about it.

With yours being a 4 door the chassis number/code will start with B57 but a lot of parts places only list stuff with the 3 door code which starts C57 so that can screw up your search.

If you run into difficulty when searching for parts, use the chassis code for the 1.8 16v model which is C57D or the Williams which is C57M
It'll be useless for engine bits but will be useful/relevant for pretty much everything else on the car plus the majority of parts suppliers just slap "Williams" onto anything in listings for Mk1 Clio parts despite the fact the part isn't even for the Williams
