Best Hot Hatch of all time?

Hello

At CAR on-line we are running a poll for the best hot hatch of all time. http://www.carmagazine.co.uk/News/S...Help-CAR-find-the-best-hot-hatch-of-all-time/.

There are 3 Clios featured Williams/Cup/and V6 there is also the option to add your own, if we receive a high number of votes for a car that is not on the list than it gets added to it.

my votes for the mk1 golf gti of course. 1.6 proper old school

its started off everything

but the vxr shouldnt be there it will never have a following terrible car

Ridiculous list, no Trophy FFS! For me, the V6, Integrale, R32, are all a class above hot hatches anyway.

Yes but the GTE was virtually unbeatable in a straight line.
I remember the handling was quite interesting & at high speed everything creaked ominously & the steering wheel bounced around in my hands.
Same standard of fit 'n finish as my 182 though;)

LOL they where awesome in a straight line drag, though my under powered ugly 309 GTi never had problems with one once there where few bends in the equation ! We had resort to Mi16 conversions to resist the loss in straight line ...

Had some very hairy moments in my Astra when turns where involved, 40mm spax springs just made things worse :eek:

the golf started nothing. the minis were converted to hatches in the 60s , few companies, radford, wood n picket , to name a couple. throw in a cooper s lump...fuk all would touch em.


williams has to win that comp tho. ;)

Voted Escort Cosworth for some reason as its on my shoppin list for next car to own !!!

But surely the RS500 is the ultimate hot hatch ????

interesting to see where the votes are building up already. i'd rather have voted for the Mk2 16v Golf than the Mk1 and the Lancia's a bit of a dream car in reality, so i went with the 205 (although am slightly biased!)

no one said anything about the winner has to be the fastest there. did they??

maybe i am being biased , but some of the worlds top motoring journalists would also agree with me.....does that mean they biased too??? or just that they know what they talking about?? ;)

Of the cars listed, I'd probably go for the Williams.

From the list i would go for the 205GTi 1.9,owned one when they were fairly new and it was a backroad weapon at the time.

Best for me isnt on the list,traded my 205 in for it and it was a backroad slayer even by todays standards....309GTI.

i always preferred the 309 to the 205 tbh.


said it since i drove em back to back over same roads quite a number of years ago....i would have been around 17 at the time, with both cars being still pretty new then.

309 was never pretty enough for the press to appreciate and there for all there ugly jibes effected sales, much better car than the prettier 205 though.

Preferred my 309 GTi to my 205 1.9.
