I take it the service where they actually go out and locate your car, and wait until it's recovered is extra (or maybe a cost charged to your insurers).

Seen a couple of their videos. They really do highlight one of the issues with the massive Police cuts.

I liked the one where they got the Evoque back. It had group of lads stood next to it and their guy decided to just walk up to the car start it up and drive it away LOL.

We’ve got one on the JCW, just another layer of security along with the disc lock but does give some peace of mind even with the keys the car isn’t going anywhere unless they decide to tow it away!

I asked one insurer about these and they said they didn't like them. Apparently by fitting one you admit that the car is likely to get stolen!
I do fancy one for my skoda tho. I think flux said not to bother as car is under 20k too

Insurers are bizarre with the rubbish they spout.

Part of me wants it to secure my car, but part of me thinks I'd rather even have my licence taken off me than someone come in to my house to force a code out of me.

If they want the car that much no security will stop them.

I’d not bother with ghost myself. If they’ve made it to the point that they have the car key then they’ll probably have access into your home. Most likely they’ll run but you may be unlucky and have a determined nutta who may come for the code.
I’d personally look to slow them and make things awkward so that they won’t even attempt a theft like steering locks, cctv, alarm, lights etc.
Ghost is invisible where as the others say I’m here to make life hard for you.

Usually it's little more than a coat hanger through the letterbox to pinch the keys that are often stored right by the front door.
or they've got a magic box that clones the keyfob so they can nick keyless drive vehicles.

There's always scare storys about gangs of knife wielding men kicking the door through, but for the most part the ones taking the car are low level scum working for a gang. They'll be the least intelligent, least capable and can be the youngest member of the group. They're the ones doing the actual crime, the rest will follow in another car or be somewhere else so they don't get their hands dirty.

I also reckon this "if they want it they will take it" attitude has caused a massive increase in thefts.
If you don't do anything to make it difficult for them then what did you expect ! all this no alarm on house no anti snap locks and leave keys by the front door is b****cks this is why a good 80% plus of cars are taken imo may as well give em a back rub and a go on you mrs before they take your car!!

My two pence is that’s it’s just another layer that keeps the car where it is I’ve still got disklok on of a night but cars are being taken everywhere now outside gyms etc so having that means I don’t have to always faff with the disklok when out and about.

And as people have said the likelihood of them breaking in, then leaving with the keys thinking they’ve got the car nice and quiet which in reality is all they want, to then working out it’s got ghost and deciding let’s go back in for the code are slim to none lets be honest.

mines also set so the engine actually starts and is quite loud so might alert people etc but as soon as the clutch is dipped it dies

The other option is pandora which can be remotely shut off at any point if the car is taken even with the fob etc

I fitted one to my MK2 Focus RS which are notorious for getting nicked. Really simple to do

That should deter most. I've never heard of someone breaking into a house etc and then messing around taking someones disklok etc off.

That's true, someone could be followed home though.

I remember Steve (Waitey) saying that when he had his RS3, four different cars had followed him home, two of which were stolen. And Sir Dave (also with an RS3 at the time) used to park it in the next street.

I'd use a steering lock but not ghost.

Steering lock will either deter them, or they'll cut it off/break it off. It isn't going to stop someone who REALLY wants the car.

Ghost just leaves them open to try and force you to start it if they really want it. Keys by the front door for me, not easily visible from outside, but if someone comes through my front door, take the f**king keys and car and do one.

I'd sooner them not want/need to confront me.
