Car Waxing - Advice Req Moving from Zymol

  Mondeo STTDCI

Right,

Im not into MAJOR valeting so I wont be buying a PC or similar, but I am willing to spend a BIT on decent stuff.

At the moment I use Meguiars Gold Class wash with a wash mitt, dry her off then either leave her or every so often I used Zymol Carbon Wax. About twice a year I use HD Cleanse on the whole car then wax with Carbon.

Now the pot of carbon is running low. I can either buy that or choose a new wax.

I really liked Zymol, it was the first product I had used after moving away from Autoglym range when I got the 182. However the wax seems to barely last a week, certainly the beading stops after a fortnight.

Can anyone suggest a good product that will fit into my pretty basic routine, that is easy to apply and is long lasting?

There isnt one.If you leave your car outdoors overnight you will loose your wax,you have to keep on top of it.Even in a garage it will ware off.

I wax mine at least twice a week if that helps and its garaged

Synthetics will last longer.

Something like Klasse All-In-One, which will clean and protect the paint, or if you dont mind cleaning and then waxing, try a sealant.

From what i believe the Autoglym isnt that bad.

Or you could try Bruns Collinite#476s, supposed to be about the longest lasting natural wax.

All available from http://www.seriousperformance.co.uk/sp/products/polish_wax.phpserious performance, and you get club discount.

im agreed NXT is a good product, but if your looking for beading its rubbish, expect to see it gone in about 3 rain showers

if you want a long lasting wax you want Collinite 476s, nothing i have tried lasts anywhere near as long as this, and its SO easy to apply and remove, a lot easier than any Zymol stuff ive used

im currently using NXT as i like the look it gives, but for protection nothing comes close to Collinite and once these few weeks of summer are over im going back to it

Agree NXT doesnt last as long as others, such as Glanz Wax. However for a good finish with minimal effort its a good product.

#16 on top of NXT or Glanz gives a mint finish to Silver:D

might have to try this Glanz see if it can outlast Collinite 476s, somehow though i doubt it could

I used Collinite 476 a couple of months ago and am very happy with it. Still beading nicely, even when the car hasnt been cleaned for nearly 2 weeks!

Meguiars mirror glaze #16 (old school natural wax in a can - been made since the 1950s i believe)

Only about £12 and is just as good (if not better) than the £80 Zymols

I use NXT and then #16 afterwards. #16 makes it last for ages.

NXT seems to last a week or two for me where as when topped with #16 it lasts a good 7 weeks.

Worth the effort and is just as easy to buff off as NXT.

autoglym super resin polish once every 6 months followed by autoglym extra gloss protection. keeps it beading all year round:D wash once a week with maguires shampoo.

Rain X is also good for keeping the glass beading/lasts for months
