Carbon Bonnet and Insurance Premium

kc7

Car  182 FF and XC90 Exec
Hi all,

The Clio will be having a carbon bonnet fitted at the end of this month but it will also be sprayed to match the car (the current one has a dent and numerous chips) and therefore only visible from the underside ;).

I intend to get the wife to inform the insurance company of the modification (it's technically her car), but does anyone know from experience how the premium will be impacted? In other words will she be in for a shock and how much grovelling should I plan to do!

Cheers, Keith

depends on the price increase really. if they quote pence just insure the bonnet. if they quote hundreds or a high figure extra. see if its cheaper to get the underside of the bonnet sprayed and i would just leave it at that.

I wouldn't bother tbh! Imo it's no different from changing the exhaust to a OEM replacement or alternatives to OEM tyres... Grey area.
