Carbone Lorraine RC6E

  Qashcow
anyone had any experience with these pads? will be used with Brembo HC's and braided lines.

dont mind noise - noise is good infact

dust not a problem, id rather drive it that worry about dirt

or should i just stick with the Mintex M1144 @ roughly £30 cheaper? fast road use and trackdays really

I have been told that the carbon lorraine pads are the best you will get without buying 4 pots.

Andy from GDI recommended them to me when I asked about the Willwoods they sell. He uses them on his track car and said that they can never get them to fade and the stopping power is more than adequate.

They will be my choice of pad when mine wear out, I got my ds's to glaze at Snetterton.

Thinkin bout doin the same mate. My ds pads are on the way out. Want a really good pad to replace them. Something a lil more fade free! lol

Had a couple of pairs of CL's in over the past couple of years and they are awesome. Squeal like hell and will ruin your wheels and paint work but if you don't mind that then get them.

a lot of people rave about carbotech on other forums, never heard them mentioned on here. what do the experts have to say about these.

we ran them for a while on one of the evos, were quite good, but again couldn't perform aswell as the PF stuff which all our cars now run (endurance being the main issue)

We've got the Carbone Lorraine RC6 Endurance compound on the site now. The disc and pad wear rate is 40% of the wear of the RC6 compound and 60% of the wear of the old RC5 compound. It is about midway between the RC5 and RC6 on friction level, I'm not sure how it compares to the new RC5+ compound though on friction.

The new RC5+ has just been brought in to replace the RC5 and has a higher friction level plus considerably less dust and noise. We've just had delivery of the RC5+ rear pads and the front pads should be with us any day now

I run the carbone lorraines on the front of my 172 track car, they are superb,Ive not noticed much extra dust or damaged to paintwork or wheels,as reported by some users of these pads,I must not be driving it hard enough, they are a bit noisey though.

choice of disk is key. Low carbon disks will get chewed up by race pads with high friction co-efficients. This applies to any race pads though not just carbone lorraine

the RC5+ fronts are £93 + £8 delivery
the RC5+ rears are £70 + £8 delivery
combined the two come to £163 + £10 delivery

think i'll order some RC5+ off your good selves tomorrow if i get time, ive got to wait for new credit card to come through, all got robbed in spain :(

With the RC5+'s how long do you think the Brembo HC disks will last with mixed driving on road and potentially tracktime?

Could be well interested in a set if they dont kill disks mega quick! Maybe a group buy Kam Racing?

I thought you wanted more noise and longer life from the pads hence the RC6 Endurance. We're still waiting on the fronts in the RC5+ compound to arrive with us, so those are not available on the site yet..

very hard to say as there are so many different factors involved. I'd imagine most people who have tried CL's before will have got the RC6 pad so there will be a noticeable improvement in disc and pad life over that setup.

I'll see what I can do when we have the stock of the fronts:D

Oh right I see, so the RC5+'s are pretty savage then. How do the RC6's compare to ds2500's in terms of stopping power and brake fade?

Sorry about all the questions, first time buying aftermarket pads so want to make sure I get a good medium :)

Cheers

yea this is true, i need to check my spending at the moment though. need to order pretty soon so that i can fit them before bedford RS day

All the Carbone Lorraine pads are high friction and are aimed at motorsport and trackday use. The RC5+ has been made so that it is usable on everyday road cars hence the low noise and less dust but it by no means toned down on friction levels.

How do the RC6's compare to ds2500's in terms of stopping power and brake fade?

I'd say the RC6 is probably a lot more aggressive a compound in comparison and will give more stopping power as long as the tyres hold their grip. The disc and wear rates are very high on the RC6 (The RC6 should not be confused with the RC6 Endurance)

As the Carbone Lorraine Pads are all sintered metal (unlike nearly all other pad manufacturers) they stay extremely near their optimum friction level throughout the temperature range. With these any fade will be either flex in the brake hoses or old brake fluid rather than the pads going off

right, got a new card through and had a 19 hour working day yesterday so the overtime will pay for the pads. could you send me a link for the price for the RC6 endurances that you priced the other day for me, cheers

Ok, so I thought I knew what I wanted and now there's choice...

So you have the RC5, RC5+, RC6 and RC6E?

Are these all available for williams/valver too, or just the Mk2s?
