Catching exhaust rasp on video (Yozza content)?

I've got keychain camera, it's decent for the money and is full 720p @ 30fps.

However, I'm thinking the microphone on it is kinda pants - just tried catching the exhaust note of the Yozza and failed!

Any suggestions?

It's positioned just on the bumper with some velcro facing @ the exhausts - is it the fact that the camera isn't directly where the exhaust gases exit?

I need to get a drive-by video, much easier to record the sound then.

bit too much distortion really, but remember the sound is being pointed out the back of the car (not upwards) so it'll always be hard to get anyway. this video on the other hand captures it very nicely imo

I'd try it further away for less distortion.
