dont bother, he aint going to get any gains, tell him to buy a faster car and stop wasting his money on his mums car

the gains on that car would be neglegable.... unless you fit a turbo you will only see a couple of bhp...., its a good idea but even on a 1400 cc injection a chip hardly does anything, I am talking comparative though..... its just the case of bhp vs £.... on a 1200 cc its lots of £ for not much bhp...

Not worth chipping it soory to say its a N?a engiens o you maybe get 2 or 3hp but that if your lucky.

There are different type of chipping companies out there some will put a new chip in your ecu ie solder one in with the new power maps. Some put there own ecu in there, some will add to the wiring with there own add on boxes and some will reprogram the ecu via the OBD port (the one under the ashtray).

Its not worth getting a remap for the engine you will get abeetr power delivery and it maybe smoother but the change will be minimal. Id recomend that he gets a decat. The 1.2 isnt a engine with massive potential your best value for money it a whole new engine or new car. Your mate woul b better rethinging what he wants the car it is for more sound and show that outright power then he sounds like a good setup (intake and exhaust work) but any more will not yield much power.

Most tunning companies charge about £500 for work although they do come as cheap (and dont take that to be bad work) as £250.

Regards warently well thats it messing with the ecu canot be blaimed for any engine warently work. But Renault probably wouldnt look for a new ECU maps and I dont know if they can even see if a new map is fitted. New laws do mean that THEY have to prove that the mod was the reason for failure of a part.
