Im off on holiday the week after next :) But when I come back the car will be getting alot of TLC. Its going to Rentec on Monday to see if Mike can delete the Airbag lights.

Going to start to do a bit more of the work on the car myself from now on. Brakes, bushes, exhaust and a oil change are the first thing il be tackling.

Mine was like that for 5 months! Only been on all 4 wheels for a month. I feel your pain. Whats up with it?

Not getting anyone's texts, Austria has really messed up my phone.

It very very nearly tried to kill me Sunday. Coming up to a junction, went to brake and the pedal was rock hard ! Had to pump it like crazy but still ended up swerving for a car. Shook me up no end so turned around got it up in the air.

Nothing a day wont solve but I really cant be a****d to do it. Lost all enthusiasm with it now :(

Everything bar the braided lines, Will be replacing the callipers, lines and fluid Saturday. Then if needs be will get some pads and discs ordered up.

Then its doing the bushes, exhaust, oil change and swapping the tyres on the rims. Hopefully il be over the post holiday blues by then and can start enjoying the car again. Because im starting to think about sacking it all off !

Hopefully once the warmer weather here you'll fall back in love again... If not what's next?

Know how you feel mate got so frustrated with mine that torching it would have made me happy. Stick with it and get it sorted and then just enjoy driving it. My gremlins are happy since Mike had a word with them I'm slowly getting some confidence back in the car.

DON'T BE STUPID.
Its a french car, what do you expect? It's got two personality's programmed into it. One to try and kill and and when that doesn't work the other is to surrender and break. But isn't that part of the joys of owning these tins? Yeah it may of s**t you up but if you were driving something German (shudders), It would of stopped at the junction and you would of had a boring ass drive to work, at least this way you got some adrenalin.

I know its hard to be motivated when the snow it falling outside but stick it through Chris. This is an epic car, you need to keep it.
Every year i said ill MOT the Saxo and sell it but whats the point, for something probably slower and boring. (like a Yaris ;) )

Keep with it mate.

Second thought..............

If you wanted something cheap and RWD Ive got a mk2 escort you could have. Very minor imperfections, like having no paint. But that's an easy Team Anorak job :)

(only joking the escort is MINE!!!)

Best laid plans and all that !

Had her up in the air of a week with the intention of doing a few bits and pieces here and there but with the crap weather we never got the chance so this morning I put the F1's back on and will be booking it in my mates garage to do the following !

Replace callipers for my 'newer' ones from my old 182
Fit the braided lines
New Superblue Fluid
New disks and pads if needed
Fit the exhaust straight through centre
Fit the Wishbone bushes
Fit the ARB bushes
Fit the Dogbone bushes
Change the oil / service
New thermostat
New door sensor switch thing
Swap the tyres on the F1's around
Sort the tracking slightly

Given him a deadline for Castle Combe on the 27th of April :)

Took it for a quick spin today and got some pics of how filthy it is

Solid top mounts are the way to go matey. My pugsport ones have been on every set up ive had. The bushes will make the world of difference tbh.

Nice car, ph1 172 are my favourite. It's just a shame it's hard to find one in good condition these days, yours is very nice though.

I cant help but think it would have been easier to remove the plastic trim at the back of the boot? It's just a few bolts?

Same with the inlet plenum you painted at the start of this thread... masked off the entire bay to paint something that can removed in 3 minutes!

Could of yea, but a quick wipe over with some white spirit will achieve the same as taking it off.

Took no longer to mask it off. Only sprayed the bits that you would see with the engine cover on, wasn't to bothered about taking it off and making it look 100%

Looked good when I saw it yesterday. As it's inside you don't notice the difference. Apparently you could use 647 grigio steel as itis the same colour. I'll let you know when I've used it on mine.

Its a bit Marmite for me at the mo, couldn't get the airbag out to get the top of it done. So will wait until after the MOT and just remove it completely and replace it with either a tray thing from a Clio with no airbag or just flock a bit of plastic and fit it in there.

The car goes in the garage on Tuesday for all the work previously mentioned. Once its back and i know the damage il possibly be booking the Burspeed day at Llandow and also a day at Abbingdon.
