Clio 172 can use Pug 206 oil filter?

I saw my garage friend put a bigger oil filter on the Clio 172 he worked on.
The filter has same diameter but longer than the original one.
He said it is from Pug 206. Forgot to ask if it is GTI or what, but I guess.

I think it is good to have bigger filter to get cleaner oil.
Any one experience this? Correct me if I am wrong.

i've done oil changes on 206's before and if i remember corectly the oil filter is the filter element itself. its not like the oil filters on clio's where you change the entire filter housing. hope that makes sense.

i think 206's are like 106's in that respect

certain years and engine sizes used paper element filters, others used the traditional metal cannister type

my 02 106 uses a paper element

Thats right, older 206's before the X Reg use the metal cannister IIRC.

I guess it would be a possibility, something i might think about actually as im looking to do an oil change at the start of 09.
