clio 197 oil usage????

My mate has a 197 since new on a 57 place and the oil light has come on its only done 5000 miles< so he took it to renualt oldham under warranty and they`ve said that the 197 uses half a litre of oil every six hundred miles ive told him that can`t be right, are they just fobbing him off? my 182 hasn`t used a drop in 10000 miles

New engines will use a bit of oil.

If I was him I would get an oil change done and keep an eye on it.

He's got warranty, so I wouldn't worry.

Mine is on 19000 now and Ive never had to put a drop of oil in it!!

Mine is on 5k and has had a litre and a half already...

But i 'ran' it in properly..
