I very much doubt you need rear pads and you certainly wont need rear discs lol as if youd wear out your rear discs before the front ones and in 40k

Even for pads and disk, get them from somewhere else and get them fitted.

I have my front pad for 25 and I got a quote for fitting them for £20 (renault was quoting me £120 for the lot, no thank you)

2 front tyres for £100 (inc vat?) seems reasonable though. tracking is about £20

As for the exausht, that is the perfect excuse to put something different ;)

nonos...

I supply tyres (search off topic " new business" subject heading)

yes, I know... supersprint is 1/2 ordered...

true for the tyres, I remember now

Jeeeeeeeez-uzzzzzzzz ! Is lubrication included in that price ?!?!!?!?!? ......and I dont mean the car variety !!!!!!!!

i think the title is a bit of an exaggeration young man - the service was not £700, the service was £280 (which is about right for a 36k service) and the rest of the "add-ons" which Renault always try (especially the rear pads!!) makes it to £700 !!! :D

The accessory belt does need changing at 36k.

Just changed the front pads on mine at 23k although there was approx 5mm left on them. The rear ones were barely half way down so left em on.

The price youve been quoted for front and rear pads at just over £82+vat seems a bit expensive as i got mine for approx £75 all in from my local renault dealer.

Yoz let me know how you get on with the blowing exhaust because i have the same problem with mine but they say they cant find the leak.

Bloody hell m8, but I must say I see bills like that everyday at the dealer I work for.
Get the exhaust under warranty, fit the brakes yourself (real easy pm me for full info on how to do them).

Mines due its 12k service soon......gona do it myself but I will still have to pay something for it:mad:

my front brakes went after 9k, just buy them and sit and look at your set up fo a wee while then set about them yourself, its an easy job in reality, id never pay anyone to tinker with my brakes

My rear discs were wearing as fast as the fronts because my Compensator valve was faulty. Had the valve replaced and all is fine again. Front discs will always go before the rears, especially on the CUP as the brakes are biased towards the front because of the lack of ABS.

Ask them to check the bias on the brakes. If it is braking 50/50 then get the valve, discs and pads changed under Warranty as it would be a faulty part that caused th premature wear.

the 172 is somthing like 90/10 brake ditribution aswell in favour of the fronts.. most cars are, its got nothing to do with/without ABS

apart from:

eating front tyres every 10k
it leaking water in the wheel well
the exhaust being almost completely replaced at 35k (centre & cat)
new steering wheel
leaking under front seat (fixed)
jarring on full lock
and requiring sompletely new brakes at 40k

no, not many problems... ;-)

in all honesty, its ok...

I dont care anymore, i just drive it...

Renault Manchester tried the brakes thing on my DCI when it had its rear end oil seal and new clutch fitted under warranty last week.

Said the front discs were warped and the pads were worn by 80%. The discs arent warped and 80% wear over 12months means that the remaining 20% will go another 3months, so why replace them now?

Hello to everyone in the Hanley stoke area didnt realise there was anyone else on here

My 172 will be going into Holdcroft Crewe in a Few weeks for its first service cant wait now. Better make some room on the old Credit card.
