Clio Vs Civic reliability

  TDI tyre shreader

Just been having a look around civictype-r.co.uk and happened to look in the problem section for the civic and my word after hearing how reliable and tank like they are built i cant help thinking that clios are built much better , compare the clio prob page to this, http://civictype-r.co.uk/phpbb2/viewforum.php?f=40Civic prob page. Im not impressed by this jap build quality!!!

Having owned both, the Civic is built better than the Clio...

Its true, CTRs aint 100% perfect, but then again nothing is, they are however one of the better ones!

Onwed my Cup for 9 months, bought it new and it was in the garage all the time for faults, wheras the CTR goes to get a service once a year...

my mate gave me his clio because he didnt think it would make it to france and back, and replaced it with a civic.

First car a freebie from a friend!! funnily enough nothing has gone wrong with mine, yet hes had his problems.

(mines a K reg 1.4RT and he replaced it for a P reg Civic 1.4)

Well since owning my clio it has been into the garage 3 times, once for a service, and twice to replace sensors which you cant really blame renault for, i was meaning look at the amount of problems on their prob page in a comparision to ours and they seem muchs more common place and more serious, as ours is full of which i/c is best blah blah. Im not tryig to say a clio is better, i was just shocked by the amount of probs they have

Honda have always prided themselves on how they dont have any engines replaced under warrenty. They obviously lie as I know someone who had 3 before his CTR was stolen!! This was partly down to his driving and track day use, but thats no more than you would expect one of these cars to be used for.

The Clio is always in and out for silly little things though.

It makes you wonder really, it would seem that new cars from all manufactures are just as bad, the more I read about the civic on their forum the more serious stuff I find going wrong with them. My mums beetle is pretty bad has broken down once and been in the garage around ten times its only done 2k miles!!

Well mine had gearbox failure, broken engine mounts, brake problems, etc... Id call those serious faults, and there are a hell of a lot of common problems on the Clios.

Tends to be the small, stupid, niggly faults that annoy people most though, and the Clio has loads of these.

Not saying the Civic is perfect though, they aint.

Not quite...

The claim is they have never had a "VTEC System" faill under warranty, not the whole engine!

Rich-D, i take it that is on your cup? Think its the luck of the draw with all the mass produced crap that suppliers are churning out
