Clio Widearch Volvo Turbo (B18FT) Mega Bass Project almost complete

  Clio Widearch
haha..to be honest, is there a weight limit for a car to be? I mean its double the weight of what it was originally now. I'm assuming it doesn't really matter though as long as the wheels and tyres are rated at 2 tonnes across the 4 to support it

  Clio Widearch
i've seen that car before on video's, its a bit of a monster. There's a video of it splitting the metal of the door...crazy. Mine won't be getting to that kind of level...just a bit of sensible streetbass for me these days..lol

  1.2 16v clio
i love that clio lol its had me hooked for a while now but they haven't made anymore vids they did say the car is no longer since the bass killed the car and the extreme weight that car has in it

im still waiting for someone to come to a audio meet with sp audio speakers so i can atleast hear how they sound as apparently they are meant to sound clean for pa speakers

I remember your car from when I volvo turbo'd mines. Back in the day!

  Clio Widearch
had you turbo'd yours at the time i was showing in 2005 then? I think it was yours i first heard about the b18ft engine being in which inspired me to do the conversion

  Clio Widearch
Well the first primer guide coat is on. Its uncovered some areas that need some work but it looks nicer as it is than in bits of colour everywhere.

2 sets of 5000k HID headlights have been ordered for when the lights have limo black tint on them (The rear lights have already been converted to full LED)

Some new flush fit black bonnet pins are also on the way from Hong Kong.

What do you think so far? I think you get a better idea of what it might look like now.

It pains me to say it but I've seen a lot worse tbh! The wheels look good and really suit the car.

Does your boot open?

  Clio Widearch
It does indeed as i need to get to the amps and battery charging point inside.

There is a lot of work going in to the boot to make it as smooth and flush fitting as possible

  Twingo Dynamique
contrary to what the majority probably think, i really quite like it. the only thing i'm not a fan of is the spoiler :p however for what it is... i like. :)

  Clio Widearch
i did once do a photoshop of it with no spoiler or a small one. It didn't really suit it too well. Plus this one is film memorabilia :)

Hats off to you mate you've put a lot of hard work into this and getting it just the way you want it. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished :)

  Clio Widearch
i wanted to make sure i did most of the work myself to test my own skills. It's taken a long time but its in the last few months of work now

  Clio Widearch
done a bit more smoothing work on the boot and other areas today as well as bits and bobs that nobody will probably ever see. The tailgate now looks flatter and the boot line looks a bit better..still got some work to do here but its looking much better i think.

I'm sorry, but that tailgate is dreadful. Looks like made of wax, got too hot and melted in places.

I like the car though strangely enough! I do admire your determination.

  Clio Widearch
i'm hoping when the car eventually goes for paint, the boot will blend it to the rest. I still have some work to do on that as it's not fully flat yet and the dreaded job of getting the panel gaps right still has to be finished. Also there will be some graphics involved which may break up the vast space that is there at the moment.

  Clio Widearch
bit more work done

The front flush fit bonnet pins are in. The second set are now here from Hong Kong too so will be going on soon.

After a proper look at the roof i'm a bit worried about it cracking and moving about and damaging the wrap when the bass gets cranked up. The roof is also not smooth at all. I decided to make a false fibreglass roof from a direct mould of the roof to bond onto the top to stop the problem..very early stages yet though.

I have also decided to smooth out the bits on the front and rear bumpers either side of the number plate etc. All these hopefully will be finished in the next month.

  Clio Widearch
A few mods done lately

Rear bump strips removed and boot flatted a bit better..still work to do with the latter

Haven't posted on here for a while as i've not really done anything that's of any interest. Still i thought i'd show you the new roof.

I ditched the fibreglass idea as it just wasn't working so made it in 0.9mm steel instead. It's still not totally flat and never will be but is a lot better than the fibreglass one and as it was before. Due to the rood curving the way it does it was very tricky. I'm happy with the results

As it started the weekend...whilst being bonded

Can't make it any worse can it.

Bit harsh really mate,

Guy is clearly dedicated to getting his car finished no matter what anyone thinks (same as me...) and I don't think it will look a bad as people make out if it were painted something like Sepang Bronze or something like that

Definitely one off! Thing I would change most would be the spoiler but if op is happy then fairplay, I appreciate the time and effort gone into that

  phase 1 flamer 172
Top marks for the work that's gone into that, and while its not for me I don't actually mind it.

  R34 GT-R & 172 Cup
I have no words to say so wont say anything, but I spent Saturday filling in 6 tiny holes on my boot lid where a spoiler was fitted it took a while and was boring as hell but now ready to be sprayed.

So fair play for doing all this work it must take some serious commitment.

  Clio Widearch
bit of a mixed bag of comments there..lol. Spinksy sounds like the most on my level and is right that i'm going to finish it no matter what

colour wise i'll be going for Ford Frozen White with black roof and black door protectors with the blue rims and a few choice blue and white graphics

I'm aware its a marmite car and not to everyone's tastes. I think it will look lovely when finished to be fair :) but then i'm biased

  Clio Widearch
oh and it has been on a weigh bridge and was 1.86 tonnes but has since gained a little weight so is probably closer to 1.9 tonnes these days

  Punto/Clio GTT
respect for effort thats gone in, but worksmanship looks piss poor from the pics, but they could be deceiving i guess.

just take more time when rubbing the filler down, constantly feel it, whats high, whats low, where to rub from and get those edges nice and straight. at the moment it looks all over the place
