Clio Wont Start - 2003 Renault Clio 1.4 (starter motor changed, key fob battery also)

Car  Clio mk2 facelift
Hi guys

I was a member of this forum a while ago, although forgotten my email password everything (going back 7 years probably)

I bought a renault clio in December, is my 3rd as I do think they are a good little cheap car.

The car started being tempermental, the key would go in the ignition and the car wouldnt try to turn over (completely nothing when turning key), the electrics would just dip as if it was trying but something just wasnt working. Other times it would just start first time. Now the problem is permanent.

I have had a mechanic change the starter motor as thats what first came to mind, but the problem is still there. He said its got to be an electrical fault somewhere with the car. I read that changing the battery in the keyfob may help due to the immobiliser but this didnt change anything but let me unlock my car a bit further away than before :-)

I have read a few suggestions that I will be getting someone to look at tonight (crank sensor, a earth strap on the bottom of the gearbox and some wiring around the battery area) but would you guys know of any common faults this could be down to? Ive already spent £150 on the car and the problems are still there.

The person who looked at the car plugged in his computer to the car and said there were no faults showing up on the diagnostics... this confused me as surely this is a major fault the car is not recognizing?

Please hopefully someone can help me.

Thank you in advanced,

Dave
