but transmission losses matter, as does the air con etc, take a subaru wrx with 240brake and 4wd transmission losses, the clio will be all over it.

the power which makes it to the wheels is whats important

I have a stock 172 mk2... ESP off against a slightly worked 1998 WRX I had him in first, he pull me in by end of second and when third was clicking in i gave up!

All up if you can give the clio a good jump you will have them off the line... but once a WRX boosts up it all over.
I can add though i can beat a huge amount of 5.0lt V8's! off the line and way into 3rd!

was jus down me local meet up point in me lil 1.2 and i said i wanna get a 172 cup or of the likes in a few years, and they laughed saying there sh*t and slow and only have about 130 brake standard, i was like mate u dont know wot ur talking about, but my m8 is 23 and im 17 dont think he'll listen to me, but yea wot a load of bollox and some other dick kept saying his 205 gti leaves them standing, it was totally standard 1.9 n i was thinking bullsh*t mate, but goes to show theres some idiots out there, i just better get saving n watch there jaws drop, lol. just thought id have a lil rant lol

Thats totally wrong mate...

The mk 1s, ie willys 16vs handle well, especially the williams... and round a track it would be very close!

If put up against a cup, in a straight line the cup is guna win...!

^^^ Standard v standard there aint much in it mate, a lightly modded willy engine would would be good against a cup or 182 though.

My old lighltly mndded hybrid would give my 182 a good run i rekon. Was also better to drive due to it being on the power from 2k rather than having to wait til 5k for the kick.
