Definitely gonna sound like a stupid question, but what’re you planning on measuring with it?
What sort of tolerances?Currently 95% cylindrical parts, profiles, radius’ etc until I take on work. Basically everything an optical comparator does, but with the benefit of being linked to a pc by default, which is perfect for my workflow.
What sort of tolerances?
We have a load of Keyence equipment at work, and it’s ok, just not amazing.
Some things it does wicked, but others it just hasn’t the capability to see down to microns.
It’s crap at doing rads, but again, the stuff I’m measuring is like R0.5 and 0.003 max tolerance on diameters.
I think Mitutoyo should be a bit better. They’re ace at after care/support, and also have training shops which you can book in to.
just stumbled across these, all UK made

I agree, should be a min of 10k rpmI think they should have a faster 20 taper spindle tbf
@Andy_con No idea what this is but could be fun with some modifications.

the xy movement is even less than my current cnc and my current cnc doesnt have a lot of movement.
pffff hell no!!!What do have, a converted mill?
Check out Vision Engineering too, they are in the UK and sometimes their kit goes for cheap on ebay because its not such a well known company. Their stuff is supposed to be very good and they aren't based a million miles away from you.Its for reverse engineering so even at 0.01+- It would be fine as some non critical features are up to my own interpretation, but 0.005 would be ideal.
This is the spec of the model I'm looking at.

The picture didnt show until I quoted.
Looks like a cool little mill! Do you program it via the controller or offline?

join the clubI need more space
a mate just offered me a 150w laser engraver for free, but no spaceI need more space
Would help a bit! I like the "1 owner from new - precision engineering company" As oppose to un precise..?Why would you not open the door and take a picture of the insides?!?!
Might have had a drive go and replacement is not worth it so they strip it for parts?I can't work out why someone would strip the inside, the mill new was probably 30k.
I was thinking 6060 Ali for the material, but I'm happy to listen to better material choices. The hubs and brakes they're going to be attached to are Ali anywayWhat material are you after Kyle? Looks like a super quick lathe job - there are loads of friendly cnc people here who I'm sure could help @Paulie031 @Beauvais Motorsport @Clio_fool.
Could probably get away with laser cutting if someone has some 6mm sheet in stock.
Initially 4 for testing and then depending on price I would look at making kits. I've drummed up enough business already for about 10 kits, which would be 44 of themHow many do you need pal?
Appreciate it JimMight be able to help as well
It's always an option, but just for longevity I would prefer a better suited materialI could knock you 4 up out of mild steel but I've not got the material otherwise, soz x
