Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Megane 225 pistons dropped into your bottom end

Megane 225 head / headgasket

tap an oil drain / return into your sump

Bish, bash bosh... 260 / 270bhp on a stage 1 map.

Simples. ;)

I'm sure there needs to be a turbo somewhere in there?

Sticking with the Clio engine. The 225 lumps come up now and again but they're pretty dear. I'd rather spend the equivalent on rods and pistons

I really like your car, will be awesome with boost. How much are you hoping to get it done for.

Cheers mate.

Parts alone just shopping around including the engine internals probably nearer 3,000. Plus all the extra bits that need doing on it. No more tired scrappers, if it's going turbo it's going to be spot on.

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Cool going to be building a forged engine for mine over the next six months, I haven't even driven the car on low boost set up yet, we are all mad lol

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

It's all gravy baby lol.

I'm looking for a durable / reliable 240-50bhp more than aiming for maximum output. I've been through 3 JC5's in 3 years of ownership, they are just not up to any more than that (if that).

....or if your abit mad it should be boost with itb's ;)

It'd be tight, but it's been done already. I'm not captain money bags though so would rather get some return on parts I do not need

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

I think the Vag box is the way forward, but a bit pricey, need to get a load of us for a massive group buy:)

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Yeah it's food for thought at the moment, you just have to see the JC5 as a consumable! They're poo

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

That's why putting a diff in the standard box doesn't make sense when you are running decent power

If you're doing it yourself I can't see an issue but it doesn't make sense to fork out otherwise. I'd rather wait and replace it with something more suitable

Boost is for losers... :rasp: ...but thankfully I don't see many around here so crack on and I'll expect a boosted SilentWagon by next March. :D

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Sorry I thought people were getting in the que now already. Keep me posted if/when you do sell them mate. Local ish to you too.

How do you get your car to and from BTM. Assuming you must drop it off and get train home as your quite far away.

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Nah f**k that off too much hassle, used a local delivery firm last time as he was doing a trip anyway, only cost me 100 ish quid

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Having had sc and turbo'd F4R's, I say that turbo is my favorite if I did it again.

And as Gray says, I'd follow that route of meggy stage1. However, I personally would also be tempted with a meg box too, but thats just my opinion and many disagree...

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Megane pistons aren't exactly amazing though are they?

I don't disagree with you on the box front Dave, just not really looking that far forward right now!

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

No, I appreciate the gearbox, they're probably made of a similar smelling cheese to the Clio anyway.

They're not amazing in the sense that they aren't coming out of a *insert motorsport brand* box and full bollock off race spec type forged mutha chucka piston, but they tow fat arsed Megane's round all day for 70k miles. However, as the engine is being replaced it makes no sense to skimp and put "average" into the new engine.

Re: My Phase 1 ITB Daily Runner

Yeah that's what I was getting at, they work! But if it's coming apart anyway it makes sense to put some mutha chucka ones in lol ;). I could just leave the bottom end as it is and plod along for awhile at the boost I want, but I'd rather not
