Exciting...sounds very interesting and a fresh change for RTS. Apparently in the single player there is no base building or resource gathering, all just tactical squad play, kind of like a modern version of Syndicate Wars but on a bigger scale.
Also heard that there will be boss battles, possibly in FP perspective...WTF?!?
Review is out now on IGN, sounds bloody awesome to be honest, Halo Wars sounds like a kids game in comparisson. I think doing away with base building is a bold but potentially really good move, although I do enjoy having a lot of turrets....mmm!
hmmm doign away with bases is risky if you ask me, it's really fulfilling building up an impenetrable base, will change the tacticul gameplay completely, plenty of rushing i imagine! still hope it's going to as good as it sounds.
Yeh but the way you can create such a diverse army and care for your units is cool, plus in the skirmishes you kind of have bases, and who knows for addons.
I think it is a bold move anyway - but I know what you are saying I like just building the best army and then going on a rampage, sending out a pu$$y army is no fun!
Sack it off. SF4 has been getting some great reviews too, Gamecentral (written by one of the guys from Edge I think) gave it 10/10 - and they have only given that to about 2 or 3 games ever before...although I think one of them was the latest GTA so they can't always be right!
I manage to bail early get home, enter my cd key. BAM, this product is not avalibe for purchase in this country... can't get it till release day CCCCCAAAAAAAAANTTTTTTS
loaded it up this morning, full reso....intro sequence was awesome, first 10 minutes indicated....similar gameplay to company heroes. Looks amazing tbqh....need to play more! SF4 was incredible aswell so so smooth
seriously, it's a very buggy gamne...forums are littered with people moaning about it. key is to keep terrain adn effects fidelity on medium or low. which imo is f**king stupid but nvm
have either of you played this yet? i'm not even sure if i like it, the no bases thing makes such a big diff!
Not got it yet, though the lack of base building is a bit risky - dare I say it, even worrying? It's a core aspect of many RTS's and to omit that, the rest of the game really does has to shine.
Say it ain't so......the reviews are loving it on the whole.....although they all say "we can't criticise a game for being original, yet at the same time, if it ain't broke...."
well...........after some serious gaming on this badboy, sf4 has been left on the shlef...i'll admit i do miss the base builind but the customisations are great and it's very focused on the action, i've been playing a hell of a lot and only just got my a group of terminators...not had one tank or anything yet, i'm not suer what this says about the game but so far i'm pretty hooked, i will say one tihng, its very very different.can you boys get off your ass and let me know what you tihnk, dare i say we should get some games in against each other!
Got it today, but won't have chance to try it until tomorrow. I'll let you know then.
As for your suggestion about online matches David - we can try but I will get utterly pwned! I can normally hold my own online with FPSs, but with RTSs, I am just hopeless. Normally, I spend far too much time building a decent base to realise that the opposing player has a couple of weedy long-range units, lobbing shells in and causing all sorts of chaos.
Obviously, the base bit doesn't apply here with DoWII, but I'll still be s**t.
Ha...I am up for getting it pending on my PC running it! Not exactly a games machine but not to shabby either. What's the performance like on your setup? No fancy graphics card here unfortunately
i think you'll be fine, there are some serious glitches in game where you haver to turn the textures all the way down or else it crashes every 5 minutes, retty shocking tbh. What g card you got? sure it'll be fine tbh.
Yeh as said no bases so no sitting their defending your ass until you have a massive army.... i'm not saying i'm good at these either but we should still do it.
I already spend a good bit of time each day at work reading up on Fallout 3 stuff....how lame am I haha...still so much to do and I have been playing for 70 hours now!!!
f**king hate the fact that you don't get exposure to any other armies. It's so stupid....that and the fact that multiplayer experience is totally different to the single player campiagn, wtf.
good game, but no where near as good playability as previous versions. Multiplayer is vastly different to single player campaign meaning you're a total novice with little knowledge of how it works or what units are avalibe from eldar and turanids alike.
Feels weird only have 3 races to played with down from like 7.
Think it's a real shame they didn't include the other races and despite i'm sure a lot of people disagreeing, think it would have been better including the bases along with the new unit customisation, just feels like i only got half a game. Least they could have done was have a dedicated eldar/tyranid campiagn to play through.
Good graphics mind you and did keep me playing it solidly. Don't think i'll play it online that much especially since you have to start out with a lvl1 commander after putting in a whole 2weeks gaming in to get him to lvl 20, seems a bit s**t. Nevermind.
