Very 2011 but tried Prima Amigo for the first time today.
I normally use tripple with a black hex pad however Amigo applied really nicely, stays very wet on the pad so easy to work in, very minimal dusting too.

I see some get good results with amigo but I never really thought much to it. never felt it added much to the finish. tried it mainly by hand and a couple of applications by DA. Thought there were plenty of other products that either filled or cleansed significantly better

I've used Lime Prime. Didn't really do much for me, lots of others seem to like it though! I would use something like AF Rejuvenate personally, though you'll get a mixed bag of opinions on it.

Prime strong is the best cleanser you'll ever buy. They also don't make it anymore so you're holding some rare s**t! It has zero filler or abrasives. Also cleans amazing. Use it on glass it's great and leaves sealant behind.

If you had 100% corrected paint and wanted to use an expensive wax, Prime/prime strong is what I would use underneath, offers such a strong clean base. Polished Bliss used to use it in every detail almost.

Have you tried any of the Carlack stuff that Polished Bliss has replaced the Werkstat stuff with? I've still got some of the Werkstat Acrylic kit in the garage but wondered how the Carlack stuff measures up.

On those details where you use tripple by DA, try using lime prime. It's quite oily so found it fill ok still, but due to the abrasive in it pad dependant it can cut well also. RussZS aka midlandscarcare and Gally used to use it a long time ago for enhancement details. By hand I still prefer AF rejuvenate or tripple.

Prime is a strange one. Can really pull the dirt out and leaves a great base for general sealants. But I prefer waxing so didn't use it all that much

If you're low on funds you can substitute the clay lube for a shampoo solution. You shouldn't need a selection on clay, but Bilt Hamber only requires water (no soapy lube needed).

Ah yes, good call - I have to say my initial, uneducated response to iron removers is "Why???" but having seen some of the pics on here while it's on the car and doing its stuff, it does look effective...

(I note the Reload sealant says to use on a car free of solvents or wax, so I presume I'd use stages 1 and 2 of the Meguiar's system, then the sealant, then stage 3 of the Meg's? I'm such a noob lol)

You don't need to use a sealant AND wax, either one or the other.

You could pick some Collinite wax up for around £15 which will last for ages!

Trix is slightly less effective than the two products separated - I'd go for Iron-x & Tar-x or Tardis.

Are you planning on working by hand?

I'd just use a polish like Tripple and apply reload on top of that rather than get all the different cleansers etc.

I thought the general rule was individual products were better, but if the Tripple stuff is just as good as 3-stage Megs (and is 1/3rd the price) it's on the list...

I will be working by hand, though, yes - can't afford a polisher and don't trust myself not to burn through to the metal on the first go! LoL

By hand tripple is excellent. Good filling ability and easy to apply. You don't need to do a 3 stage combo to get decent results.

I used to use Collinite 476s, its a very 'industrial' wax that lasts forever.

However, I prefer the finish and application of Reload, simple spray and wipe off and lasts for several months (it's also fine on tripple)

Not super-keen on unregulated nano-tech with its long term effects (on the human body and environment) not really established yet, so may stick to a more regular wax...

I just don't like the idea of nano particles floating around the environment when there is no regulation of them whatsoever, seemingly - and if they are that small that they get through pretty much any filtration system, do you really want to be glugging back tapwater filled with car polish nanoparticles that have come off in the washing machine and gone straight into the sewage system, which is re-processed back into drinking water?

Call me paranoid / crazy / a tree-hugger(?!) but I do think this nano-tech is going to create problems we aren't even aware of yet, and it will be too late by then to remove them from the environment. (Not to mention that I'm sure they are in loads more cleaning / personal hygiene products that we aren't told about.)


Anyway, I appreciate that such technology works well for car polishes... lol


So, after all that rambling, I've taken off my tin-foil hat andI think my final selection will be:
CarPro Tar-X
CarPro Iron-X
Bilt Hamber Clay (regular)
AutoFinesse Tripple
Collinite 467S
and then some foam pads / microfibres for applying/removing, all of which should be relatively quick and easy to work with, hopefully :smile:

I'll have to remember to take some before and after photos because the current paint is shocking :laughing: although I don't think I'm going to be able to do much about the parts where someone's polished/scrubbed through to the white undercoat... lol
