Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

Must be using it right! Sorry that previous reply could be read as though I was being a prick. Didnt mean it that way ;)
Nah defo didn't come across to me like that ha ha ha I just chuck my foam lance and the other wheel brushes in the wheel bucket once I've finished, brush just looks like my hair when I wake up, bit of warm water and it's straight again.

Amazon returns are amazing tbf. Had to return a autoglym instadry. Basically put it in plastic bag and hand to the shop. Don't worry about wrapping it etc. Within an hour refund email.

Their wastage and returns etc I've heard is high and accounted for.

I can imagine that most of the small stuff isn't even worth sorting and restocking so just gets dumped.

I've tried to return something recently and they didn't even want it back, just gave me my £6 back and told me to keep the item.

Yeah have had that before.

I was looking into selling on Amazon but really don't think it's worth it, in case someone wants to try and get their order for free!!
From everything ive heard from multiple business sources, dont bother. Look at them recently being caught for promoting their own products over independents. Thats with all the returns aside. Id do everything I could not to sell on there.

Seeing as I've got to jump through flaming hoops whilst riding a unicycle, blindfolded... I probably won't pursue in all fairness!

Selling on Amazon sounds great, but in reality probably no good for a business my size!

It's rained a few times already and I've been up and down the motorway. I came out to my car this afternoon and I was impressed, car was bone dry by the time I got home @Gally, also the gloss on the car is fantastic.

Good stuff, beading is proper wax like which i've missed with new sealants just because i'm nostalgic like that! Seems to have a bit of longevity also which is good for a wax type product.

I used to think it was car washing that damaged the jukes but no idea why all the white ones look faded. I don't think they used solid colour on a Juke!

We had a lady complain her car looked a Lego car as we replaced the tailgate and rear bumper... Rest of the car was matte... Not really sure what she expected us to do!

No really looked into those. I 'think' most are pretty poor to do the overall car. Can you not get a snow foam gun and seperate sprayer as above?

I use one of those small pump sprayers it's a Hozelock one and it's been used for quite a while now with no issues. I do have to fill it up but usually only once and that'll give me enough to do the Focus. No foamer though but tbh I prefer that because you need quite a lot of pressure for the foam to really get on there. If you have a windy day with those pump spray foamers I bet half if it will end up on you or the floor.

QDX Graphene isn't the easiest to apply but the finish and the feeling is fantastic. Just hope it lasts...

Any recommendations on vacuum cleaners? The little Dyson I've got barely picks anything up. Will be for light use on cars, heavy use on a work pickup.

Henry. Or the Titan one from Screwfix is actually pretty good for the money. Wet and dry too, oh and can be used as a ghetto blow dryer. I have both.

Can anyone help please, I’m not sure if I’m doing something wrong. I got some 8below snow foam, I’m using a cannon (albeit a cheap Amazon one) with the smaller brass nozzle that I changed to, and a karcher k1. I can get okish foam but it doesn’t actually move any dirt? I look an idiot because it does so little. I know it won’t clean the car, but a slightly dirty car that had some detailed added after last wash, should move some dirt off it shouldn’t it? It’s almost to the point I feel it’s pointless?

Yeah, WP 8 Below is very alkaline so it should be doing some cleaning. Do you have it diluted strong enough? Also, some foams dont react with some dirt. Bit beyond my understanding but IMO theres never any harm in foaming the car first (or using a pre-wash).

What dilution ratio are you using? Also it helps to use warm water in your lance (y)
