You’ll be amazed what will still come off the paint with a clay bar. Always worth using one IMO.

Is it worth clay barring before polishing?
The paintwork feels smooth so not particularly contaminated, but if I wanna do a real job on tidying up the paintwork, removing swirls and light scratches etc, will I see a benefit from it?

It'll likely damage if not remove the ceramic coat.

This thing had been car washed a lot before it came to us, then sat at ford awaiting a recall for over a month.

Black cars are such hard work especially in the heat but looks decent now.

Can anyone recommend something to smarten up the carbon tips on my exhaust? They’re hard to get to properly, but they’re starting to look s**t now.

Clearcoat failing on them?

Probably easiest to take them off and give them a decent polish, might bring them up alright or could need re lacquered

Most likely, yeah. I think I let them sit with salt on for too long over the winter unfortunately. They actually usually come up OK after a regular clean, but now the warm and sunny weather is here they've deteriorated more. Or at least that's how it seems.

I find once CF goes like that the only solution is to flat it back and put a new clear coat on. Can’t imagine that’ll be easy with the clearance though.

Yeah, the karcher bit and metal tube will unscrew from the brass housing.

You'll need some grips and probably a bit of heat to the brass body.

Use a bit of PTFE tape or liquid sealer on the new fitting.
