Detailing Chat & Questions Thread

  RB 182
I received my order form i4detailing today, but realised I didn't order any tardis.

I'm aware this is probably the best tar remover but I wanted some for the weekend so I'm going to pop into town on my lunch.

Does anyone have any recommendations for the next best thing available from Halfords?

as above, try decanting it in a spray bottle to make applcation a little easier. It will work just may require doing a panel a couple of times

Wanting to order some bits.

Iron out or iron-x?
What QD over Tripple and Tough Coat?

Tempted to just stick with AF and get Citrus Power, Iron out and Finale.

Already have Lather, Revive, Crystal, Tripple, Tough Coat and Illusion.

Cheers Chappers.... I thought it was the case but just thought I'd check, Anywhere stock all 3 to save on postage costs??

Edit - ObliTARate any good? Think I have some ITR about but as I'm making an order.

Not that I know of, free postage for AF products on Polished Bliss, you can get Tardis as well I think.

Then you can order using the code at the top of the detailing section for a discount on CarPro!

I have oblitarate, I rate it quite highly

Not tried oblitarate, but at the price it's not the most sensible move when a 5L tin of tardis from a rep can be had for £15!

Tardis, Iron-x, Citrus Power and Finale ordered

Need a bunch of new MF Towels and a Drying Towel.... What are people using?

I've got a chemical guys wooly mammoth drying towel.

I've not used another to compare it with but it certainly does the job very well!

I know but lets say a brand new pot came into my possession FOC ....

I got C5 in the fridge if I ever wanted it (Probs gone off by now) and apply C2V3 to my rimz every wash (Neat). But does this wheel guard provide any real purpose?

It's probably a little better than rimmers wax special formula. You'll get better protection just using neat C2 on bare paint

It really is shocking that people advertise poor decon stages, even more shocking when it's Pro's.

On another note, it's probably best asked here with everyone being clean freaks. Do you pick a car baed on spec or colour?

I can't decide between a white or blue fiesta st, the detailers inside of me wants blue, but then I can't help but think white looks much smarter on them.

Lols I might be in the same boat soon. ;) White is more expensive usually on the ST.

I'd probably rather a White one. Easy kept but not as rewarding to properly detail.

Blue just isn't as nice as imperial Blue which is a tad sad imo but still really suits the ST.

Oh and on the clay thing, more perplexing is the fact that pros and experienced detailers actually comment in these threads and don't mention it!

I agree that white looks better (it commands a premium for a reason), but from a detailing point of view, I think you'd soon get bored. I had a PB ST and it really is a great colour, very rewarding.

Here's mine.. it's the only car I've owned that I really miss, brilliant cars.

I have to agree Ash, however I cant help how fresh the ST is in white.

Youll get fed up of it. If it was cream or a pearl white it could be better i have just bin in the same boat couldn't mark my mind up on white grey or black. I've ended up with back as I've not had a black car in ages.

White has to be spotless all the t I've blue doesn't and it will age better.

See the age think doesn't work Ash. White isn't a fad. It's been around for years. Escort Cosworth, S1 RST. Lots of models.

I do agree you might get bored of it but it's so easy to look after. Zero swirls to the naked eye! ;) Never see any scratches either!

I simply could not own a Black car.

Still not sure i get it? Isn't that the clay doing its job lol?

The clay shouldn't need to be that dirty if the correct decontamination stages are followed.

I always do one hit of iron x, one of tardis, I then start to clay the boot which is the area I usually find worst. If the clay is coming off that dirty its time for more iron x and tardis.

Used my C2V3 yesterday.

Wiped down the car with IPA a few times first to remove the sonax.

So far I like it but beading is what i am really interested in.

Surely if you want beading you buy Dodo Juice? Although V3 is very good it's still a nano sealant.
