Discos 182



Evening all, hope I find you well. We join you about 2 weeks into ownership of our 182. (I say we as I’m in this with my brother) after chatting about getting a 182 for the track on an off for about a year, the Christmas break bought on an impulse buy....

2005 with 130,000 on the clock, stripped out rear, 2 sets of 15s one with as new uniroyal rs3s and the other set got treated to a fresh set of nankang ar1s over the break.
Drives straight as ya like, gram lowering springs and recent OE shocks, front an rear struts, power flex dog mount an engine mount. New top strut mounts OE. Ktec braided lines, recent OE rear discs an pads, tidy brembo HC front discs with an unknown pad 40% worn so we dropped in a set of EBC orange stuff pads and bled the system with ate high temp fluid. And changed the gearbox oil out for some elf 75w80 fully synthetic.
Oh and she’s running a foam filter induction kit with cold air feed from the head light.

that brings us up to now......our first ever track day booked for tomorrow at donington. Both mega excited an I think secretly a tad nervous!
We would have serviced it but the guy we bought it off seemed genuine enough and said it had recently had a service, so we will be giving the engine a service after tomorrow.

while I’m here, anyone know what Tyre pressures I should be starting out with tomorrow with the sets of tyres mentioned. Also how damp should it be before I switch to the rain sports?

so that’s it, the journey has begun. We don’t have a plan as to where we’re going with this at all so we’re just going to wing it for now and see what happens.

So the first track day went almost without a hitch..... (found a split driveshaft boot near the end of the day)

so got the car back home and first job was to look for the next potential track day 😂

after a bit of a debate we decided to go with a new driveshaft rather than a boot, ordered a engine service kit and some goodies in the way of poweflex black series wishbone bushes, inner arb bushes (outter wasn’t in stock) and rear beam bushes.
Oh and we needed a oil pressure sensor after some Rodney slipped undoing the oil filter and broke the old one!!!

Some pictures posted twice sorry, so the bottom arms was a rite pig to be honest. Everything was seized and we resorted to fire for getting the old bushes out.... new ones went in nice though with the vice and had them chilling in the freezer just incase 😂
Didn’t get to tackle any of the others as I assumed I was going to be in for more of the same rusted seized nuts an bolts...

sorry about the lack of pictures of things going back together but we had a bit of a rush on tonight after work and managed to take the car a little run an booked Donington for the 25th if anyone else is there?

also placed an order for something quite nice 😉 will put pics up when It gets here an hopefully some pics of it going on the car...

Welcome aboard. Keep booking track days, that way you'll not end up in an endless bare shell track car build that never sees a track! There's plenty of those on here already 😂.
 
That was the concern this week.... we wanted to get the rest of those bushes done but at the same time wanted to use it!

after a little test run tonight, we had a choice of working on the car the weekend or going out in it. 😂 track day it is then.

pic of the AR1s just before our first track day, think we needed all the help we could get lol so decided on decent tyres.
