Dishonoured order for Trophy

  Trophy 265/500
Don't want to put too many details in order not to prejudice any legal proceedings, but my dealers called to advise that they are now unlikely to be able to source a Trophy. I got a loan and the other half bought me a personal plate too on the basis of the order I placed. Already taken preliminary legal advice (ah, the benefits of working for a NASDAQ listed company)

I'll keep you up to date with any offers they make etc, (assuming legal advise me to) and will not be shy at naming and shaming the dealer if they don't make a satisfactory offer to sort things out.

Any official idea when the RS is appearing? (all extra 200kg of it, imagine driving your 182 with a bit more top end, but 2 fat blokes in it)

If they try and pitch me a second hand Trophy or a full fat with Recaros and metallics (obv with cup packs) shoould I fold?

Tricky choice, I'm just basically furious they said, "We can get you one no problem" but appeared to have been lying.

I'd be wanting a hefty discount ona Megane TBH think its the best bet. Even a Megane for Trophy price.

I remember when the dealers I bought my 182 from got shafted by the guy working there and had sorted me a duff friends and family deal with printed order forms and that for a car that hadn't even been ordered.

They were like "sorry" and I was like "legal action". Needless to say I got the car.

I was wondering when this was going to start happening. I genuinely had already predicted that dealers were going to take orders for cars they couldnt supply. Their history of handling limited edition cars is a bit flakey to say the least. f**king retards.

i enquired about a trophy at the weekend... was phoned today informing me that i could order a brand new one (however it was Olympian Renault so they wanted £13800 lol)

They'll just start badging them Trophy 2 soon. Wouldnt be the first time (Williams). We know the outgoing model is now being produced in Dieppe well into next year, so a few more trophies based on the old platform isnt an impossible idea.

If you build it they will come.

Lots of mentions of the Megane. Anyone driven a 225/225 cup? The only one I've seen around looked a little lumbering to me...

Thanks for all the quick replies BTW :)

Bargain , my dealers were being economical with the truth it seems.

Any other cars seen in other dealerships?

Theres one sat at the the dealer down the road from me. Thornton Road in Bradford. Been sat there for about 3 weeks now. Could ya ask them to get that one for ya??

  Trophy 265/500
Sweet, that's about half an hour away. What dealer is it? (Or Am I being dumb and it's called Thornton road)!

Got the Bradford Dealership BTW. Sunwins.

LOL @ msa182, I think a vee would be pushing it a little, plus we'd have to go shopping in the other half's mkII 16v GTI :)

Thanks for all the help folks, please keep any suggestions coming, but I've got to hit the hay soon (I need to be in work stupidly early to prepare some stuff)

Am I missing something? Still 20 left according to the RS website and that seems to be updated daily. Have they sold out?

  clio 182 black /gold
That seem to be naughty what that dealer did. Dont take any shoot off them go for as much as posible.

Is it that bad racing182?? Not had anything done there since I bought the car so wouldnt know.

Still sat there this morning.

Where abouts are you then if you are only half an hour away??

hope you get this sorted chap

portland - jeremy townsend is someone high up in renault sport (dunno what but he is) so if he says there is 20 left its true.

as with your question bout the 225..i was at a meet with one the other day and was chatting to the owner...they go well in a straight line but they ain't that good round corners or in the wet...

Hi,

I work in sales for a Renault dealership and we have an unregistered Clio Trophy for sale.

There are fewer than 20 remaining unregistered cars we are told, and we receive about 5 calls a day from other dealers (possibly the one you have ordered from) trying to get ours.

If you are interested let me know how we can make contact directly.

So there are vehicles available, but the garages that have them won't let other garages take them because they want to get the sale themselves for their figures.

Some service that is..

Surely Renault should be looking after the customers regardless of which garage gets the sale?

Do you really blame the dealers for not releasing the cars to each other when it is such a rare and sought after vehicle? What would you do if you had the opportunity to sell something yourself or just give it away?

Although we sell Renault vehicles remember most dealers are franchised therefore we are not 'one' company.

If you want the car or know someone that does we would be happy to deliver it to most areas if you do not want to travel to collect it.

I appreciate most are franchised - my local dealer is. But your still governed to a certain extent by Renault UK are you not?

I don't blame you for wanting the sale - although I can't see how one car would make much difference. They're not even expensive!!

No you're right. One car doesn't make much difference but every one helps. If it is a vehicle that isn't easy to sell then we let it go.

I just thought seeing as 'portland' seemed to be stuck finding one that I would offer my help. If he or anyone is looking for one you can have it tomorrow!

Yeah, I agree. I dont see why any dealer should give up what is pretty much a guaranteed sale and just give the vehicle to another dealer who is essentially a competitor, even though they might both sell Renaults.

What is wrong though is that the dealer Portland placed the order with accepted an order either without checking the system, or knowing full well that all the Trophy's had been built and allocated to dealers other than themselves. They should have known this was the case and then first made sure they could get one from another dealer before accepting the order.

Guys,

One thing I'd not seen.. it doesn't mention anywhere that money had changed hands either with or without deposit.

All the OP says is that "they said they could get one".

It doesn't mention a contract of any sort?

Obviously if a deposit was placed then it's a different story, but even then, I'm sure there is a get out clause.

Getting a number plate purchased before you're allocated a VIN number is pretty daft imho because there is always a chance it could go wrong.
