Dishonoured order for Trophy

Something similar happened to me. I was sold a car the dealer couldn't actually get me. Production had ceased. They ended up giving me an ex demo model with 700 miles on the clock. I ended up getting a Dynamique for the same price as a Extreme I was happy with that.

The sales person just consults a database. The database tells the sales person yep there is availability in that model unfortunately it seams the database used by some dealers is a load of rubbish and isn’t up to date.

The other problem is was it a verbal contract cause if so they aren’t worth the paper they are written on!

Went past Sunwin at Bradford today,The Trophy was outside with a BIIIIIIIG £500 sticker slapped on the bonnet, must be desperate to get shut, lol;)

Got back from the dealers a bit ago. To answer a few questions, yes a deposit was taken and an order document signed. Legal have found a couple of possible clauses to exploit, all based round your friend and mine "reasonableness" (yes it is a real word!)

I was advised by the dealer that they would call the next day if there was any issue sourcing the car, and despite follow up calls, nothing came back until nearly a week later. By this point, as there was "no problem" I had confirmed the loan go-ahead, and my other half had bought the plate. The issue is that there was a serious delay in advising me they couldnt get the car.

Anyway, I have acquired the contact details of the regional dealer support manager at Renault, and have got him on the case badgering. There is an outside chance he will be able to pressure a dealership which has a car getting dusty into releasing it, but failing that, I'll need to do the deal again. The resulting issue is that I may not be able to bargain as hard, although sales on these last few are slowing down quite a lot, and most places are pitching how NCAP 5 the Mk III is and want to shift Mk II's.

Amazingly, no offer made on a 182 or a Meggy, despite me giving signals for alternative solutions. Either being stoopid or stubborn!

Thanks for all the repsonses people, I'll be checking again in the morning, (and wishing I didn't have such an insane workload this week)

Cheers

Not shockingly, didn't get the promised callback today, despite calling dealership several times. They can tell me yes/no tomorrow and then I'll try to get out and shop around this weekend if it's a no.

I am in such a bad mood, traumas at work on top of this sh1te.

Had a nosey at the one at the Bradford dealer tonight on Thornton road and there two there. One inside the dealer and another on the forecort. Both saying get lifetime warranty with them.

Didn't realise you were in Rotherham. Gordon Lambs at Chesterfield had a demo and an unregistered Trophy last weekend, both available.

Yeah, sadly the unreg'd one went yesterday morning and I'm not too sure about the demo. Its actually one of the demos that I drove and I know what I did to it from almost cold. If you're buying it, I'd advise getting an extended warranty thrown in on the deal, 'cos the engine's going to fall out. ;)

They've been there about 3 weeks now. Not sure how long dealers keep the cars for if they don't sell them.

My local Renault establishment had a 255 V6 from new for about 9 months! Poor thing looked very sad sat next to the "peasant" spec Clios and Modus'!

Well, after spending a good amount of the last 2 days on the phone to the regional dealer manager at Renault, they've sourced me one! Still not delighted with the dealers, and I don't think I'd have one but for obtaining the mobile number of the Renault dude, but at the end of the day, there'll be a nice drilled pedal under the right foot next week!

Thanks so much for all the sightings of cars and sympathy from people this week. They're nearly all gone folks, if you're going to do it, do it this weekend!
