DIY Rear Strut Brace - Why Not?

  Ph2 172 Cup
I'm pretty intrigued by the DIY rear strut brace guide... Leaving aside the argument on whether any rear strut brace makes a difference, I can't think why this solution wouldn't offer the exact same benefits as an OMP/Sparco at a fraction of the cost.

Don't they all just bolt to the top of the shocks? In which case one rigid piece of metal is as good as any other isn't it?

you are correct when you say one is as good as the other, but personally, i would think that you would obtain alot more stiffnes if it was bolted to the strut tower as opposed to the suspension itself...and using 50 x 25mm hollow section is just as strong as some manufactured ones.

plus it looks cool.

I fitted a rear strut brace to my 1.2 over the weekend. After reading what everyone said I wasn't expecting anything, but it feels so much more solid when chucking it around corners.

It may be because it's standard suspension and it's so high that it has such an effect, but I'm impressed so far :)

Perhaps it's the sport suspension, but it's definately made a difference on mine with non-sport standard suspension.
