Does the F7P have a gasket between thermostat housing and cylinder head?

  R5 GTT EFI Clio.
Or is it just a sealant like hylomar?

As when my brother took it off for a new thermostat, he used hylomar to seal it back on and it didnt look right to me, should there be a paper gasket?

as i have taken it off now and was planning on making one?

:S

not as far as i know

people tend to just seal it up with gasket paste

the thermostat has a rubber seal though

i cant remember if mine has some gay cork/paper one on or metal one.....172 engine is metal on housing on mine

Thats a shame as i have ran out of sealer and have loads of gasket paper here, it should be fine if i make a paper gasket with sticky STAG on both sides?

IIRC my old 16v had a gasket on there, but I just used some instant gasket stuff when putting it back together and never had a problem.

Thanks for the help guys, just made the gasket, waiting for the STAG to go tacky now, can paint it on the gasket then wait for it go to tacky and do it up, are there torque settings on these bolts?

With some stag on both sides of the gasket should be alright..

thermostat itself has a rubber surround/gasket style thing. I don't remember any gasket on the housing.
