DS2500 Fitting Problems - Help Please!!

  Cup 172
Recently bought some DS2500s and Brembo HC discs. Went to put these in over the weekend and hot a bit of a problem. I can get the pads into the carrier fine (nobbles filed down as per the advice on here), but when I put the caliper back into postiion, I can only secure it at the top or the bottom. Its as if the calliper wont go quite far enough into place. The pads look right (profile of the pads is in line with the profile of the discs)

Any ideas on what Im doing wrong? Had a mate pushing the caliper forwards while I tried to get the 13mm bolt in but could quite get it into position...

Ta,
Phil.

hi mate done mine the other week i had the same problem. I filed down (i used a grinder) the edges which are just under the bobbles .The horizontal edge each side if that makes any sense. So that the pads sit lower in the calipers.

No grinder, so Ill just have to crack on with the file!!

Fred, do you mean the steel things top and bottom of the caliper? If so, they went on the last change...

you must remove the pad shims, i'll post pics of a 6month old DS2500 pad that was fitted with the shims still in place and NO grinding done to the back plate

My brakes squeel under low pressure breaking, they brake fine under heavy braking. Could this be down to the shims not being removed when fitted by the garage? They have been on the car 10months now and have squeeled for last 8 or so months.

would need checking, if its a "normal" garage who fitted them then i'd give it a 98% chance they've done it wrong

I have ds2500 pads with shim still on and ive never had any squeeling since fitted, they were fitted august last year

Was taken to a specialist, and they were great for 2 months but then the squealing started, but its only at low speed braking and low pressure braking. The car did have new calipers, Brembo HC's & DS 2500's fitted at the time so I guess it could be any of them. Cars due a service next month so I’ll prob get said garage to take a look at them for me.

Cheers for the advice to Fred :)

i didnt have to grind anything off my ds2500, just removed the shims. Get a bit of squeel first off, but it goes then. I dont mind the noise
