DS2500 in less than 2000 miles

  ph1 172
About a month ago, i fitted a set of DS2500's and standard disks to my valver. ive done between 1000 and 1500 miles since them. I have given the brakes a reasonable hammering, been London to Leeds and back on the A1 twice (800 miles Roundabouts and all).

Had the front wheels off the other day and i appear to have used well over half the pad material, pushing 2/3rds.

The discs are also on the limit and have a huge lip on the edge

The brakes arnt binding, the groove down the centre of the pad was completely clogged up with huge flakes of metal and on one side i couldnt even clear the groove out with a screwdriver.

I do about 12k a year so i cant carry on like this. At the price, i cant afford 10 sets of dics and pads. any ideas?

thinking about it, i have gone through a set of rear pads in about 9 months. so maybe i am just giving them a bit too much abuse

Tim, what front discs are you using?? I have the DS2500 with Brembo High Carbon discs and the wear is reasonable.

Whats that combination like, I have some DS2500 on order and am expecting them to eat the standard discs once fitted!

LOL!

No wonder they're so fucked - a more aggressive pad will eat discs much quicker than standard, and rear pads in 9 months?!? I think mine are probably original! lol

Not sure what to suggest really - harder, more race compound pads (like pagid blue or something) might last longer but also take longer to warm up, and they'll probably eat discs quicker.

I think you need to adjust your driving style! lol
